I've stayed at the Baglioni Hotel a number of times over the past few years and this review is well overdue. If you're looking for a quiet hotel which provides a touch of luxury and a little romance then look no further. Its only a short distance to Mayfair, Harvey Nicks and Harrods and both Heathrow and London City airports are only around 45 minutes drive outside the rush hour.

All the rooms that I've stayed in are sumptuously furnished and opulently decorated in deep purples and gold. There is a quality entertainment system and the bathrooms are quirky and well appointed. The butler service for pressing etc is fast and efficient but a little expensive. On this occasion I was upgraded to a Junior Suite which provides a small sitting area with sofa and desk.

The service all over the hotel is understated and flawless, in the bar and restaurant areas the staff are slick and professional and the food is excellent. In the evening they serve a very good selection of light snacks which are perfect if you plan to eat later but need a little something to nibble on. Breakfast is really superb with a good buffet and some a la carte options.

There is a covered terrace at the front of the hotel which is pleasant when the sun shines but at the moment can be just a little noisy as there is a major construction project going on nearby. Hyde Park is just across the road and is ideal for a walk to blow away the cobwebs. At the moment the Spa is undergoing a major refurbishment.

All in all, the Baglioni has become a regular 'home from home' for me in London but this comes at a price !!!

Room Tip: Suite 304 looks over the park and is high enough to escape any traffic noise.

The good features: Excellent location, service and friendliness of all staff is outstanding, the room was quiet, and the breakfast (particularly the scrambled eggs!).
Not so good: simply not enough shelves and drawers in the room, and not enough coathangers supplied. Also my pet peeve was charging for wifi. This really should be free.

Within an easy ball toss in Kensington next to the gardens are two outstanding boutique hotels, the Baglioni and the Milestone. Baglioni is the Italian counterpart to the very British Milestone in terms of intimacy, location, and size---close but not too close to Knightsbridge and High Street Ken, directly across from Kensington Gardens. These are not scene hotels (Baglioni is closer and aspirational perhaps in that respect) but rather places for quiet enjoyment during your stay in London.
Specific to the summer of 2014 is that there is construction next door and that I imagine this could be loud although it wasn't for me; service was strong with many complimentary items from management and an upgrade even as my room wasn't ready at 2pm. The hotel restaurant was very good and the continental buffet appeared to be substantial. Prices are very high, of course, but that is to be expected in London in general and Kensington specifically.

Room Tip: I got a room overlooking Kensington Gardens, which could have been loud but somehow wasn't. Ask...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your recent stay at the Baglioni Hotel London.

We are delighted to read that you enjoyed your time here; our location is indeed very special with Kensington Garden on the other side of the road.

I am happy to hear that you found the service very strong and also you enjoyed the upgrade to park view, all our windows are triple glassing which does stop the noise from outside for the room and suites that overlook the park.

Regarding the building work, the apartments are about to be ready and very shortly we are expected to be released very soon.

I do hope that we have the pleasure to welcoming you back at The Baglioni Hotel.

Kind regards,

Was there for two nights for a special occasion. Nice room (think was an upgrade from large double). very helpful service with a nice touch.

Location is actually opposite the park, the road address is a bit misleading.

We needed a quiet, comfortable hotel in the center of things during a short stay in London. The Baglioni is well-located, across from Hyde Park and close to Kensington Palace, the Albert Memorial and the Royal Albert Hall.

We booked through Amex and were upgraded to a small suite upon arrival. While small, it was luxuriously furnished, with a very comfortable bed and plenty of clothing storage. We never heard any noise from outside or the hallway even though we were close to an elevator. Very restful after a very busy week prior, attending our son's wedding ini Croatia.

As others have mentioned, the breakfast, included in our package, was sumptuous and quite delicious. We never felt the need to order from the menu, since the buffet was full of good things. We expected great coffee from an Italian-owned hotel, and we were not disappointed. Service in the dining room and everywhere else was exceptionally good, unobtrusive yet ever-present.

We had drinks most nights in the charming lobby bar. Highly recommended for an elegant, quiet end of a day of sight-seeing and the beginning of a night on the town.

A special mention for concierge Phil, the only non-Italian employee we encountered. He was unfailingly helpful and friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had the dinner reservations we wanted, found our way where we needed to go, and generally made us feel welcome at the hotel and in London. We would definitely stay at this hotel again, or in any of the group's other properties.

Room Tip: Our room did not look out on Hyde Park, so we don't know if those rooms might be noisier than ou...

The Baglioni Hotel is the epitome of elegance opposite Kensington Gardens, a couple of minutes walk from The Royal Albert Hall and handy for the West End.

Service is effusive (although perhaps a little over the top for my personal taste) but you can't fault the attention to detail.

The style of the hotel is quite masculine, full of blacks and golds, which can make it quite dark in some areas so if you want light and airy this may not be the hotel for you.

However, while the hotel is great you have to wonder if the room rates are really sustainable. London has literally hundreds of hotels that match and beat The Baglioni for style and location but for a fraction of the price. A friend of mine commented on my Facebook post during my stay "One of my fave London hotels but SO expensive" and that rather sums it up.

Room Tip: Rooms can be dark but if you want light and airy then you'll have to pay a premium for the suite...

Stayed here on a Friday for one night, we chose the Baglioni due to its close proximity to the Royal Albert Hall and the great reviews on tripadvisor. We were certainly not disappointed, we received a warm and friendly welcome upon arrival and we able to check in at least an hour earlier than specified. The room was lovely, with a comfortable bed and a good size bathroom. The only downside was that the only drink making facility in the room was an expresso machine. However, we since found out that we could have requested a kettle for tea, next time we'll know! Breakfast was delicious with a great choice, lots of lovely fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, salmon and cheeses. Hot food included sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomato. The freshly squeezed orange juice was very nice. Service was wonderful from all of the staff throughout our stay.
