“Very convenient location, comfortable and clean”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

Stayed here on a business trip to Canary Wharf. Very convenient location, short walk over a bridge to get to business area and right next to transit stop. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was compact but nice, bed was comfortable and it was quiet. Breakfast was average. Would stay there again.

BUT £15 per day for wifi in the room is a joke.

Just back from a long weekend in London and wanted to say how good this hotel was. We stayed in an Executive double room and it was definitely worth the extra cost, breakfast included in the price, Wi-Fi free, use of the executive lounge with lots of delicious nibbles and wine every evening. The service was excellent, the staff friendly and very helpful and the view from our room (603) was great. It was very quiet and we had excellent quality of sleep every night. As it my husbands special birthday we got a little surprise in the room (chocolate brownie cakes and fruit beautifully presented and a card and a bottle of mineral water) It's a great location for exploring locally and for heading into central London as its right next to the DLR station and the tube. Far better value for money than hotels in Central London I have stayed at before.

The hotel is situated a short walk from Canary Wharf tube and also the docklands light railway. There are restaurants and bars located close by with outside seating area for the summer.
The staff were friendly, the concierge was very informative and the bar staff efficient. Bed was large and pillows comfortable, bathroom had separate shower cubicle.
Overall this is a good hotel but if you are expecting 5 star service and quality then look elsewhere. The suitcase was taken from us on arrival but when it still had not appeared 10 minutes later we had to call down to see where it was - this was at 23.00 hours so not peak time!
The mini bar contents seemed to be more designed for men - beer, Pepsi, water but no mixers or wine and, even though it was automatic, it was not refilled during our 3 day stay. The biscuits and bathroom toiletries were not replaced either.
Breakfast at the weekend was an added bonus as we had access to the full hot buffet but otherwise the breakfast was limited in choice. During the week breakfast was served in the tiny executive lounge, which is tired in appearance, stained carpets and with an extremely limited choice of food and you cleared your own tables....not 5 star in my opinion.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view or upgrade to a corner room.

I stayed at the London Marriott WIQ for three nights while on business. I want to first say that the service here was top notch. My daughter and I had been in the UK for three days, and our bags still had not arrived. The staff at the concierge desk made several phone calls on our behalf, and took a tremendous amount of time to deliver different toiletries and a glass of wine to our room. Our room was on a higher floor, and we were not close to an elevator, so I can't not complain about the room location. The room was perfectly sized, and the hotel offered the regular amenities to be expected from a Marriott. If you are looking for a Marriott close to the main tourist attractions, this hotel may not be the best choice; however, for the price and a short metro ride, it was definitely worth it. There were several restaurants along the canal, and it was just a short walk to the Tube stop. If you are coming from Heathrow, do not take a cab as it will cost well over 100 pounds. If you are looking for a great hotel with excellent service, the Marriott West India Quay is the way to go. If you are elite with Marriott, your access to the executive lounge will give you tremendous food and drink options throughout the day.

Stayed here when we see going to the O2 and were delighted with the location and the ease of travelling around. Good hotel with great facilities and attentive staff, breakfast was just ok...but helped by a great view of the docks. Usual corporate approach so you shouldn't be disappointed with the overall standard. The only minor complaint was the level of heating outside of the rooms, it felt like walking in a sauna every time you left the room...which in June was surely unnecessary?

We stayed here for one night- we were going to a concert at the 02 and this is only one stop on the Jubilee line, plus it is close to great bars and restaurants and Canary wharf.
On arrival, I asked if it would be more economic to add breakfast now or just pay for it ( we had a room only rate) the receptionist was very helpful and explained adding it now was better, as breakfast is £22 a head, and for £45 we could upgrade to executive room with access to the executive lounge- so I did this.
While she was processing this, she noticed it had been my birthday that week, and so she said she was going to upgrade us to a junior suite at no extra cost- what a lovely gesture!
The suite was large and comfy, great bathroom with 2 showers- one above the bath, one in its own cubicle.
Great big bed, something that Marriott do so very well- a great nights sleep for both me and my husband.
Our suite (315) was at the back of the hotel right next to the DLR line- so the back windows were frosted, personally we didn't mind that, but if you want a view over canary wharf I think you need to make that clear on your booking or arrival.
the a/c was very good, and there were plenty of sockets for charging phones etc. There was free Wi-Fi that weekend, and our upgrade meant we got free Wi-Fi as well- bonus.
I don't know what the charges would be otherwise.
The mini bar was one of those annoying ones where if you move something it is automatically charged- and the prices are crazy- £4.20 for a tiny bottle of still water?! Most hotels offer at least one complimentary bottle of water these days.
As it was, we took them from the lounge fridge!
Another thing that would have made the room more up to the latest standards is that in lots of hotels the more expensive rooms now have nespresso machines for proper coffee in room, not just a kettle and instant sachets- I think Marriott could do the same.
After the concert we had a drink in the bar and the waitress was very helpful and advised us on what to order.
Again at breakfast, the staff were all very good. Breakfast was the normal buffet style with cold and hot choices- really liked the omelettes made to order and the pot of coffee left on your table- nice touches.
We also enjoyed a slightly later check out of 1pm which was agreed to without a murmur.
All in all, a very good version of the Marriott brand, and we would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: if you want a view of Canary wharf, you need to state that- rooms at the back are very close to the...
