Terrific location!!! The perfect solution for notting hill, very close to the tube stop and Portobello road.
Hilary makes you feel home and Muna & Hummer are so cute!

The only reason to choose for this B&B is the location, which is excellent close to the tube, buses and walking distance of the popular neighborhoods.
Little care was taking durin our stay, with sour milk in the fridge and a fruit bowl with fungus.
An ugly water kettle and no place to store suitcases. We had little room in the closets that was mostly populated with the owner's clothing. The B&B pretends to be charming, but it is far from it.
There are much better places for the same money.

I recently stayed here with my daughter in dreary March for a few days. We found the owner charming and welcoming and her home was very warm and comfortable, filled with art and antiques. Our bedroom had an Indian theme and was plush with red pillows, wall hangings, artwork- the bed was very comfortable. This B&B is very close to a tube stop and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. It was just perfect for us and I highly recommend it.

I just love my stays with Hilary and Maryo. Their Eclectic interiors, with HIlary's beautiful paintings to be seen throughout are most interesting, and they are both delightful hosts.
Scrummy Dutch breakfasts with copious amounts of coffee. Just the place to stay while exploring London!

This is a great little B&B in a fantastic location. We found this gem through the Alistar Sawday guide and it suited my family's needs perfectly.

The rooms were comfortable and space efficent especially considering our number. Hillary, the host, is a talented artist and her pieces grace the walls of the house along with art from the world over. The continental breakfast was quite adequate - eggs, ham and cheese were on offer every morning. Hllary was great in providing us with transportation options and touring advice. The location is close to metro, buses, pubs, restaurants, Portobello Rd etc.

Hillary's ability to be manage with my family situation was very much appreciated. We will certainly stay again in the future.

This is a lovely, small London terrace house in an excellent location. It is packed with beautiful objects and pictures. The room with the private bath is comfortable if a little cluttered. The bathroom is large and very well equipped and furnished. However we were very disappointed by the lack of warm welcome and the number of minor failings.
We had to ask for an additional toilet roll and the proprietor hsd to go out to buy some. We had to ask for additional teabagss. The fridge (located in the bathroom! ) was out of order and the proprietor was well aware of this but had made no attempt to replace, repair or even warn us about it. He and Hilary seemed pre-occupied by the re-decorating of the exterior which was taking place and by the needs of their 2 dogs (which thankfully were kept out of our way).We were offered (rather half-heartedly ) cheese and ham with breakfast on the first morning and then offered a reduction of £10 or £15 for breakfast out the next day as the decorators would be changing in the dining room at the time we had requested breakfast !
We experienced very little of the concern and interest shown to some other reviewers and consider that the attention to detail so necessary for a high standard B&B was sadly lacking despite the high price.

Hilary D, Owner at 26 Hillgate Place, responded to this review, 25 August 2011
I was very sorry to read this review of our home and hospitality. The builders had let us down earlier and there were things in the programme of work which we just could not delay any more. We decided not to cancel the bookings so as not to inconvenience people. At the same time, I, Hilary, as the guests were well aware, had only finished chemotherapy a month or so prior to the visit and we had hoped that some allowances would be made if things were not as perfect as they could be. Alas, it seems that these guests had little sympathy for our predicament. We think that we offer quite a lot of "trimmings" for such a small establishment and for the cost and are surprised to be so taken to task particularly in such circumstances. We shall continue to try our hardest to maintain our high standards though.

This little gem of a B&B is in the best location ever. It is a stones throw from the Nottinghill station and you can walk right into the city centre if so inclined. We walked through Kensington Gardens right through to the Palace and it was superb. Best of all it is right next door to a lovely English pub! Hilary is an interesting and gracious hostess and our room was very comfortable. We would certainly recommend it.

Chic and bohemian Notting Hill and Portobello Road are to the north and sophisticated Kensington to the south. In the house paintings abound everywhere, many by one of the owners who is an artist. There are two bedrooms, one cream and white having splashes of colour from Indian hangings, with queen size bed and spacious en-suite bathroom with claw foot bath and separate walk in shower: the other bright and vibrant from many textiles in shades of red, with super king size bed and sharing a large bathroom with the owners. Dutch or continental breakfast is served in the dining room which opens onto a small but lush and private courtyard garden. A jewel in the middle of London. ... more   less
