The facade of the hotel is unadventurous but the interior decoration of the lobby and rooms conveys a nice balance between comfort and style. Rooms are large and well-equipped but windows are fixed. Good choice of breakfast. Staff is very helpful. The environment is thrilling, with vivid street markets and walkways alongside canals. The City is pretty close. London bridge is at 20' walk.

One negative note: the lobby and bars are very crowdy at night with loud music - not way to get a drink at the bar coming back from town. Fortunately, soundproofing is ok.

Room Tip: Take a room at the back (front street is very noisy) in the upper floor (distant from the very noisy...

Hey Emmanuel B,

Thank you so much for posting a review of the Ace Hotel London, we really appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience with us.

We are glad you liked the décor of the lobby and the rooms. We totally understand your point about the bar. Shoreditch is one of the most vibrant districts of London and the heart of the hottest bar scene around so there are times when there is a really amazing buzz in the bar created by the people that have come to visit us.

We will have to look at the way the bar is staffed to ensure that no one is missing out on a drink or being served. Thank you so much for this observation as it will help us to improve our service.

Once again thank you so much for taking the time to write your review.

I really like the service and professionalism at this hotel. The interior is stunning and cozy and the restaurant is simply beautiful. Ace Shoreditch lets you relax and recharge in a lively and very contemporary way. The rooms are well-equipped, comfy and clean and the whole neighborhood has everything I wish for when visiting London.

Room Tip: Choose a room with street view for a lively vibe

I used this hotel to stay in London after a night out so didn't get to experience much as arrived late and left early but great first impressions! The rooms are a very good size with lots of quirky touches and very comfy dressing gowns! Staff were very helpful and it is in a perfect location for Shoreditch. I will be back soon to try the restaurant and bar

Our cabbie taking us here from Liverpool Street tube had worked in the area for 40 years and not heard of the Ace. I guess it's new and there's no sign outside the hotel with it's name on. This is very much what the hotel is all about. New, hip, not for oldies. And it made me feel like an oldie.

I've stayed at the Ace in Manhattan and this is very much in the same style, for better or worse. Form doesn't necessarily follow function. The room we stayed in for a few nights was a bit cramped, lacked adequate wardrobe space and had idiosyncratic features that proved more irritating then inspirational. It tried a bit too hard to be "cool". Having plastic bins instead of a chest of drawers, for example, felt like difference for differences sake, rather than being an improvement. Is a pencil with a pencil sharpener fixed to the wall more efficient than a biro? Not in my book.

If you like the Shoreditch/Hoxton vibe though, this is probably for you. It's like Williamsburg in Brooklyn. It's where the wannabe artist hangs. It's up and coming, but not really finished yet. In fact neither was the hotel, they are still renovating the rooms from the previous hotel, the Crown Plaza (hence the drilling sounds during the day.) Come with tattoos, a skateboard and a baseball hat. As a guy I felt obliged to grow a quick beard and wear a check shirt just so I didn't stand out too much. But I was faking. It's just not my scene.

The bar on the ground floor got busy/noisy at night. The Manhattan drink I ordered there didn't taste right (oh the irony.) The barman refused to change it though. It's all the details for me, and they just kept getting it wrong. But hey, there are few hotels in this area and it's the right location for another Ace, so it will find an audience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a hifi/ guitar/ tuba. Grow a beard (men only).

Hey Deadwing,

Thank you so much for your recent review of the Ace Hotel Shoreditch. It was a really open and honest review which we totally appreciate. We were sorry that we made you feel a bit older that is not our aim at all.

We like to think that we offer something for everyone, we totally understand your comments about the noise, Shoreditch is a vibrant and exciting part of London and we want to ensure that we are part of our local neighbourhood. However we know that a peaceful night's sleep is important to us all and we are looking to sort out some of the noise problems.

Thank you again for taking the time to post a review about us, and we hope that you consider staying with us in the future

its a really interesting, stylish place to be after work when you are travelling on business. In the shabby chic shoreditch high street district, this is industrial design with sumptuous food options and djs playing in the bars and lobby as you arrive.

Room Tip: i have stayed on 3 and 5 and despite the lively bars open to guests and pretty full, its quiet

Hey,

Thanks so much for the 5 stars we really appreciate it! We are glad to hear that you like the vibe of the hotel because we want people to feel relaxed after a hard day and if it’s a business trip feel the need to chill and listen to the DJ’s in the lobby.

Make sure you come back to see us.

The staff were very friendly, and helpful, full marks for that. Our deluxe room didn't have the expected king sized bed, which was the only reason to pay extra, however, it was quickly sorted. The rooms are very dark and minimalist. The main obsession seemed to be to make you aware that you were liable to steal from them and as such everything in the room had a price tag and the shampoos and soaps were screwed to the wall - but then flicked off when you tried to use them. The toiletries were expensive, high end products made to look cheap - not the normal tactic. The beds were uncomfortable and the Saturday night was very noisy right through the night. Reception doubles up as a very trendy bar in the evenings, packed with young people and a DJ. Great if you're young, but over 40, wanting a good night's sleep, it's not for you. I haven't marked it any lower as none of this was hidden at the time of booking. It would suit some people really well, but I prefer a bit of luxury. We were there on business and the area suited us and it looked interesting so we gave it a go, but probably wouldn't book again. Not to say that others wouldn't love it

Room Tip: opaque windows in some rooms, which I didn't like, but they might have been quieter rooms

Hi Sheds,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review on the Ace Hotel Shoreditch. It was great to read such a balanced review, we totally understand your points in relation to the vibe of the bar, the hotel is very much in keeping with the local area of Shoreditch so the bar can be busy at times and there is live DJ's playing until late. Our rooms have been soundproofed but noise can travel.

In terms of itemising how much items are whilst I understand your perception it is purely so people know that if they wish to take something home which we actively encourage there will be a charge.

Again, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review and while not everything was to your taste as you quite rightly say it would appeal to other people.

Thanks again
