“Excellent location, basic accommodation”
Reviewed 31 July 2014 via mobile

The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful, and the location is ideal for Theatreland and Covent Garden.
Be aware that the rooms are very small and basic, and that you may have to struggle your luggage up several flights of narrow staircases. Unsurprisingly, given the location, it is noisy at night.

You might want to be very cautious about this hotel. Though the location is amazing, the rooms are fine, and the staff is nice. However, my family came home with more than just memories; bed bugs bites were some of our souvenirs. We wrote the owners to let them know and they responded immediately with what seemed like a form letter implying that they had the room inspected and we must have gotten them from a taxi, plane, bus etc. It was awful dealing with the problem when we got home. My arm was so swollen by an allergic reaction to the bites, that the stewardess recognized what it was and told me to go to a clinic as soon as we got off the plane. We spent the next week or so disinfecting, doing laundry, and scratching.

The Good: You can't beat where this place is for the price. Minutes from Covent Garden, the British Museum, and the heart of Soho with multiple tube stops within a 5 minute walk. The Bad: Yes, it is basic, but we stayed in a Quad in the front of the hotel. Basic is an understatement. It was tiny with essentially cots for beds, terrible traffic noise and hot inside regardless of the temperature outside. The breakfast was sub-par as well. The location and price probably may trump the poor conditions, but I am not sure I would stay there again.

We make the trek to London every 2 years from Oz and as so glad that we found this gem. It may be basic, but the location is sensational. Twice we stayed in the double room at the back of the hotel. Yes it is very quiet there but the rooms are very small. So we asked for a front room this time which is much bigger. We can look over Monmouth St, and experience all the atmosphere. Might be noisy at night but there are double windows to close. Breakfast has variety but not like a 5 star hotel. Enough for us with a choice of toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, beans etc. Tea and coffee. Handy to the theatres for a few shows before heading home and back to work. We will keep coming back.

Room Tip: Decide whether you need a quiet room and ask for the back of the hotel. Small rooms though.

This place is close to all attractions in London. Plenty of pubs and stores around this hotel. The stairs leading to the rooms is a bit tight. Other than that this place is nice. Will probably stay again if we come back to London.

I stayed there one night for an event which was taking place at Covent Garden. It's located perfectly if you want to go to there or to the theatres nearby, and nicely priced. The rooms are really small and amenities are very basic, but the staff is very friendly and overall it is a very good stop if you treat it as a night harbour during sightseeing or a short stay.

We only stayed 1 night for a Theatre Break but found this Hotel extremely central and reasonably priced for our purposes. The staff were extremely helpful and allowed us to leave our cases in the room before the cleaner arrived. The room itself was quite large and on the first floor and as we were at the back of the hotel, it was extremely quiet. Everything was fresh and clean and the ensuite had a glorious large shower. Yes, the stairs are very narrow, but we only had smallish cases so they weren't really a problem - larger cases however would be more of a scramble, especially if climbing to higher floors. The basement breakfast room is quite cosy with an adequate full english on offer - not so much of yoghurts and fruits etc if that is more your style, but we thoroughly enjoyed our cooked preference anyway. An ideal site if you want to be central for theatres and shops in general and we will certainly be returning in the future.

Room Tip: If you like it quiet then definitely ask for a room at the back - we could have heard a pin drop fro...
