A fun pub, especially considering its history and age, but for pub food it was way over-priced. We ended up just ordering sausage rolls, which were good, but still not what one would expect from a pub.

One of the most beautiful pub in London with a great beer garden.
Perfect after a long sunday walk in the park with a group of friends or your family.
I have been here 3 times so far and the food was always consistently good (especially the chicken on the sunday roast menu). They have a decent (could be better) selection of beer. The staff is really friendly and very helpful with the booking.

We popped by after a walk on Hampstead Heath, we sat outside as it was a lovely sunny day and only had drinks- although the food being served looked divine,we had our staffie with us who was fussed over by the staff and by customers. Always lovely when a pub welcomes you and your dog. Very friendly place to be. :)

The chef was unable to make a salad sandwich, 'as its not on the menu' The food that was, was overpriced, poor quality and tiny. Don't bother.

This was the first time I had visited this well-known pub, to have lunch with friends. For what it is, the food is dreadfully overpriced. I had a chicken hotpot, which was a measly little leg of chicken served up on some mashed potato with some (small) pickled onions, a few fragments of carrot and some specks of bacon. The potato had a suspiciously consistent texture, which I suspect may have been instant mash - an impression not dispelled by its having a rather buttery taste, as though to hide the fact. For £14 this was not good value; half that price would have been acceptable.

The waiters were perfectly friendly, though somewhat slow. This wasn't a problem for us, but it might irk others.

The pub retains an old atmosphere, but that is, in part, artificial - dried hops under the beams, pewter tankards hung up. The neatly cut floor tiles and columns that look like metal holding the beams in the room to the left of the bar can't be C16th either!
