“Basic”
Reviewed 23 December 2012

Very good value for money as me and my boyfriend went for a night a few days before christmas and only paid £60 between us. We stayed in the z queen inside room (which has no window). I thought this would be fine but it was a little strange and felt a little boxed in. Waking up was difficult as there was no natural light to help wake you up. Also, we could not tell what the weather was like outside so could not see that it was raining/cold and so wear coats or sunny etc. When trains passed underneath us, we could feel this even though we were on the second floor of the hotel. This was not awful noise and vibrations though. However, the room was very clean and comfy. Nice tv which had a good range of sky channels. Had all of the basics. The hotel offered complimentary cheese and wine 1900 from 2100 but we were out at this time. All staff were very friendly. If I were in London just for the night again I would stay here but any longer and I would book a room with a window! Good location too, nice short walk to Buckingham palace and good connections on the underground (which is very very nearby)

Room Tip: Choose a room with a window if you are staying for more than one night!

Staff- fantastic, welcoming, full of personality and go beyond the call of duty
Rooms- very clean and ergonomically designed. They're in no way large rooms, but the beds are very comfortable and stylish and offered full sky TV

During our stay we spent an hour in the lounge area of the hotel enjoying complimetary wines, breads and cheese, which was an delightful surprise- I'd highly recommend this quirky boutique hotel!

I carnt recommend this place enough, I stayed just one night before I flew out on holiday.
I had there basic inside room. No windows! Bit strange at first but as I was only going to be staying one night I thought I'd give it a try. First of the manager was so helpfull and genuine that I felt relaxed and each evening they serve complimentary wine and cheese! My room was very swish with spotlessly clean bathroom/wet room. Breakfast was plenty full and ill stay here next time I'm in London. Without doubt.

Excellent Hotel. Perfect for an overnight stay in central London. Rooms are small but it is of no concern. If you need a clean, modern and central hotel in Central London you won't find a better place to stay.
My only quibble is that my room (009) was on a busy corridor near reception so quite noisy. Avoid rooms 009, 010, and 011.

A modern stylish chic hotel, great value for London. Rooms are easily big enough for a few days and have a good finish and everything you could need. The Bed is comfy and the Egyptian sheets lovely. The staff are wonderfully attentive and there attention to detail is refreshing. The wine and cheese on an evening is an absolute must, great wine quality regional cheeses - Try it.... Cant wait to go back......

Room Tip: If you want a very quiet night ask for a room on the higher floors.

i stayed at the z hotel while in london due to a long layover at heathrow. i didn't want to be confined to an airport hotel and wanted to explore london's famous sites in less than 24 hours, since it was my first time to the city. after researching options in the area, z hotel seemed like a perfect fit: prime location, reasonable rate, private bathroom, modern amenities and convenient to heathrow via the tube. who cares if it is the size of a shoebox? customer service was very helpful and responded promptly during the booking process, since i contacted them after seeing there was no availability on their website.

arrival was simple, the hotel is about a block from the tube station and street signs are well-marked. at check-in i noticed the internet was down and after reading the reviews, i wonder if this is the norm rather than the exception. that's a shame. i was finally able to access the internet from the lobby, but this was a pain. check-in was quick, the staff were courteous and i quickly made my way to my room, an inside double (no window, the lowest room category), in the basement.

the room itself made the best of the very limited space and reminded me of an inside cabin on a cruise ship, albeit smaller. glass-enclosed toilet and shower with some toiletries across from some hooks to hang up clothing, a small bedside table behind the shower with a coffee/tea maker and the bed against the back wall. the length of the bed took up the entire width of the room, to give you a better perspective. the large flat screen tv had a lot of channels and hd, but started to give me a bit of a headache because of the proximity. the bed was very comfortable and had good linens, but i couldn't really stretch out. the room was a model of efficiency, but had i been an inch taller (i'm 5'9"), overweight or with a travel companion, it would have been uncomfortable and horribly claustrophobic. additionally, being that i was in the basement, i heard a lot of rumbling from victoria station below. (fortunately, trains stop running rather early plus i was too jetlagged to be bothered.)

as i mentioned, the location is ideal for sightseeing. i was able to walk to such famous sites as buckingham palace, big ben/parliament, horse guards parade, trafalagar square, westminster abbey, the thames river, 10 downing street, etc. in about an hour (very quick walking by myself, without spending a lot of time at each location). the area has a ton of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs, plus the hotel offers an amazing complimentary, 4 hour long happy hour each night with unlimited quantities of wine and delicious local cheeses. like kimpton in the states, but more generous! breakfast was not included and rather expensive, considering i am not a big breakfast person, but there are plenty of coffee shops nearby at victoria station to grab something.

i would definitely return to the z victoria, because the positives (location, amenities, staff, cost) far outweigh the negatives (small space, high cost per sq. meter but this is london). i felt like i was staying at a chic boutique property with ensuite bath in an expensive part of town for a few more pounds than a hostel. that said, if i were to return with my husband i would most likely upgrade to the next higher category to afford us with a bit more space and if i were to return with a friend i think it would be preferred to book separate rooms.

Room Tip: try not to spend a lot of time in your room during the day, but if you must, avoid the basement room...

Perfect for 1-2 nights stay. We stayed in double inside room which had no window. To be honest we knew what to expect from the pictures and reviews here but rooms are extremely small - a little clostraphobic even, but was perfect for our quick stopover. The hotel itself Is similar to a house from the street and has one main room downstairs with a large dining table which also acts as bar area - breakfast and dining area and reception. The location is great - literally around the corner from Victoria station. Across the road is pacha nightclub also. The one thing that stood out the most was the hotels cleanliness, very good! There was a complimentary wine and cheese reception each evening in hotel from 5-9 which was nice. Staff friendly. I would return but my husband hated the room as bed far too small. Def not for families or those looking for luxury but perfect for young or business travel. Didn't sample food as we were a little put off by the dining set up. One big square table for everyone to sit around! Not for us!
