“For pragmatic travelers.”
Reviewed 27 March 2014

As other reviewers have already stated, the Z's proximity to Victoria Station can't be beat. However, I stayed two nights in a windowless room, which was beyond claustrophobic and not something I'd ever do again as it's impossible to tell if it's day or night (if you've seen the movie "Oldboy" you'll know exactly what I mean). The room itself was tiny, but immaculate and very zen, and the large flatscreen a posh touch. I did have a problem with the location of the electrical socket, which was too far from a mirror to for me to properly blow-dry my hair. And the lighting in the bathroom...ugh. (I've run into the same weird dilemma in several other London hotels--they clearly need to hire more women to design their rooms!) There's a pub next door and a Pret à Manger around the corner, but few other dining options in the immediate area, which isn't really an issue if the Tube is running, so keep your fingers crossed. The coffee and croissants and other breakfasty things the Z offers in the morning are a brilliant touch, and something to take back to one's room since the lobby area tends to get a bit crowded with people eating and watching TV. I would return to this hotel, but only for one night next time. It gets a bit much after that.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a room with a window or risk going insane.

I stayed one night with my daughter. We paid extra for a slightly bigger room and didn't miss having a window. We're not sure if we'd stay again as a couple mainly because of the lack of privacy in the bathroom. It is a great option for a single person. The bed was a good size and comfy and the room was very clean. The cheese and wine reception was a nice touch and decent quality. The breakfast was ok but probably a touch overpriced.

Room Tip: Higher floor to reduce train noise

Had a business stay in Victoria. Location is superb for transport and right around the corner from my office. Room was comfortable and elegant, looked either new or newly renovated. very efficient coming and going (10 seconds from street to your bed). altogether very pleasing.

Room Tip: pick the windowless basement rooms if you're comfortable with no window and being underground as...

This hotel is brilliant for the prices that they offer. Its clean, modern and very centrally located!

We stayed for one night in an inside double. (Paying an extra 20£ for a window is OK if you intend to stay in your room but we just needed a warm, clean base to stay). The room is small, but big enough for two people and the bed is very comfortable!

Bathroom is big enough too, great, powerful shower.. Only thing is if you are shy at getting naked ect in front of the other person, there's nowhere to hide as the bathroom is all glass!!

Reception and staff were great(albeit small, the reception/bar is in one room)and they let us check in 2 hours
early.

We were on the first floor, and could hear the underground trains every so often, so I'd presume the noise is much
Louder in a basement room. Opt for a room on the 1st floor or above if you can.

Definitely stay here again, for the location alone, just a 4 Min walk from Victoria station.

Plus free cheese and wine from 5-8!!!

good concept. rooms were v. small, no doubt. but they were clean, modern, functional (eg, large TV and free wifi). we paid $150 / night in central london, mid week, which is incredible. and, we didnt have to deal with some old school, run-down room with lousy mattresses, pilows and no TV (yes, there is still lots of those in London). if you need a full service hotel for biz, this is not the place for you. but if you want to spend most of your time out of the room and come back to a comfy, functional place to rest, give it a try. being across the street from Victoria tube station is a major bene.

Room Tip: make time for the free wine and cheese inthe afternoon

I was told this hotel was different. It is. The rooms are really small, the width of a bed, there is no windows but you have everything you need for a short stay. A 42" TV at the end of the bed, huge deep towels and a really good shower. You can watch breakfast TV when you shower !!!. On arrival the cheese and wine is great way to relax. When on business that gap between the last meeting and getting to a hotel and rushing out for dinner is a pain, here you can snack halfway through that process. Breakfast was OK. It cna get cramped finding space to eat, but with a location like this, if one hotel to remember.

Room Tip: Book well ahead, popular trendy hotel ! Floor 7 is the BASEMENT !!!
