“Surprisingly good pub food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2013

Having just arrived back in London off a 9 hour flight, we felt like a warm, delicious dinner and some beer/ale. We found a table upstairs quickly and had immediate solicitous service. The drinks recommended were perfect and the food was surprisingly wonderful. One of our party said the lamb dish he had was the best he had over the course of his two-week stay. The scotch eggs were tasty and I'd highly recommend this pub if you're in the area. (Not too far from St. Paul's Cathedral, the Museum of London, Barbican, etc.)

“Perfect for a convivial Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2013

Organized a Sunday birthday lunch for 20 at the Old Red Cow. The team were very helpful and relaxed during the organization process. On the day we ordered a selection of roast joints and a large veggie dish along with sides - joints were set out on the table for us to carve ourselves which was all very convivial and the meat was pretty good quality and well cooked. We were a bit of a chaotic group but the staff were attentive without interfering. Along with a great range of ales, the ORC offering turned out to be perfect for a large, relaxed Sunday roast lunch.

“Not healthy, but yummy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2013

WARNING: Don’t go to the Old Red Cow if you’re trying to be healthy. The menu choices are mainly pie, burger, steak, another type of pie. There is one veggie option: aubergine parmigiana. Luckily we were all in the mood for stodge after a long Easter weekend. I opted for a beef and stout pie which, excitingly, came with the pi symbol tattooed onto the pastry. It was delicious, as was the creamy mash that came alongside. They also do craft beers if that’s your kind of thing. The only downside was that it was a little pricey - £13 for pie and mash. But hey, we were in the City. Good option for a hungover Sunday lunch.

“Much anticipated, somewhat disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2013

Went for Sunday lunch on 3rd March. This is rustic place, slightly off the beaten track. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive.
The food on the other hand was a bit of a let down. Limited Sunday roast menu with only beef or belly pork. The servings of beef varied widely and the quality was poor. No mash only soggy roasties and the yorkshires were suspiciously like Aunt Bessies.
The gravy was bland, thin and you only got a very small amount.
The drinks are expensive. I had a large glass of wine, which came with an unexpected guest in the glass. However, as soon as I mentioned this to the waitress in was replaced immediately.
In summary, would not recommend.

“Large selection, friendly atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2013

We stopped by to try some beers and settled in to play some chess while we relaxed. There was a t.v. in the bar area that was playing a rugby game, but once the game ended, they turned the t.v. off and put music on instead. There was an upstairs lounge area (with its own bar), but some of the tables were reserved. They had a dozen or so craft beers on tap plus 3 or 4 cask beers. It was an incredible selection-we recognized beers from several countries. We thought about eating dinner there, but decided not to when we saw the menu...it was a bit fancy (bone marrow??) for our pub tastes :P But we enjoyed hanging out there for a while and tasting some good craft beers.
