“Ultra Cool Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2012

Stay at Citizen M not just for the comfy bed, ultra modern hi tech gadgets, mood lighting and fabulous rain showers but for the whole experience that this fantastically designed space provides. The ground floor has several zones to laze and chill or catch up with emails, all offering a different wow factor. Fab cocktails mixed at the cool bar by Ruth who we enjoyed chatting to - we'll be back to try your raspberry chili Caipirinha!!
Location is ideal for visiting the Globe which was the purpose of our visit. Price was excellent value at £113 but was an opening offer so it will be interesting to see where it settles. No hesitation in recommending.

We stayed two nights during Olympics. The ground floor of this hotel is awesome. Lots of modern and functional chairs and sofas (which I love the most), beautiful lightings, bar, café, dining space, courtyard,, they are all in the same floor but each of them provide different mood. Friendly staffs, Wifi worked pretty good.
Room was beautifully organized as well. It was my first visit to England and I don't know other hotel rooms would be, but it wasn’t too small for me at all. They have spacious bathroom, big window towards courtyard, nice lightning tuner! They have this tablet PC in the room and it gives everything, like lightning tuner, TV controller, morning alarm, blinds, internet.. Separate washstand (usually it's in a bathroom) worked pretty well too. Definitely I stay there again when I visit London next time.

I love the whole concept of this hotel - almost like a private home: armchairs, sofas, fires, books, games, newspapers all very stylish in a contemporary way (fabulous staircase). Very buzzy atmosphere, super friendly/helpful staff - more like a private club than a traditional hotel. The bar is very central and there is a canteen rather than a restaurant, with limited but great food - serve-yourself with a couple of hot dishes, such, salads, a fridge full of drinks and a table full of cakes and nibbles. You simply go to check-out and pay (where there is is tempting basket of sweets and chocolate bars - bit like a very good refectory at a top uni! Breakfast was available for £10.95 which is real bargain in central London, although I didn't take it but will next week (yes, I've booked again already). Bedrooms are all identical - not particularly big but also a bit like a more stylish and glamorous room you'd have at uni. The bed was big and 'built-in' and the mirror and wash basin in the same space. There is a perspex section that houses the loo and a very good rain shower plus handheld. Everything is controlled by a Samsung netbook - blinds, lighting (choose your mood - with colour!), tv, radio - very straightforward even tho' I am a bit of a technophobe. My main gripe? The windows don't open which make me rather claustrophobic and also means the room smelt quite stale when I went in each evening - not proper air circulating is not good and although the beds are comfy, I didn't feel that I slept particularly well. I'm not sure why they've done this, when all they needed was a small push-put window at the top. I think this would a bit offputting for alot of people. If that was changed, this would be 10/10!

Room Tip: I had a room that faced the inside courtyard which was nice and quiet - but since the windows don...

Want somewhere different? Try Citizen M on the south side of the river. Comfortable bed, 'proper shower', and good hot breakfast with real coffee. To open the blinds, control the lights and air con you have a tablet computer. Can even use it for email. This might not be to everyone's liking but is ideal for geeks like me in their middle years. Food in the evening when I stayed was a bit of a problem as all the hot food was finished but there was sushi available. Food of some sort or another is available 24/7 which is a useful feature. Great bar and sitting areas which is also an adaptable communal space. Hope Citizen M open a few more hotels like this in the UK.

We stayed for 3 nights in early August for the Olympics. The hotel is in a great location near London Bridge tube, which was perfect for the games and near the embankment and Borough Market. The staff are friendly efficient and welcoming. The rooms are small but spotlessly clean and the hi tech room management system is great, the kids were in seventh heaven! The lobby area is the best thing about the hotel; there are lots of places to sit and relax or watch tv and work. Breakfast was good although the coffee was slow in arriving. All in all.. Great!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the court yard. There was some traffic noise in the rooms at the front of...

Stayed here for a couple of nights on business. Staff were really friendly, check in was easy, room quite small but well laid out. The bed was huge and really comfy. A couple of minor issues: the tablet in the room was a bit fiddly making the lights actually quite difficult to control - needs fine tuning; the breakfast needs reviewing - poor continental choice. Neither issue was big enough to dissuade me from staying again though. A nice new, casual, friendly, and chilled place.

We stayed here after an offer on a booking website, had a lovely stay.

The bed was very large and comfortable, the room was very clean, well decorated and the whole hotel had a good atmosphere. With key features via the lift it was a very secure feeling trip- sometimes I feel a bit spooked out walking down long hotel corridors at night...

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone who wants no frills as the room comes with a tablet that controls heat, light, ambiance, television, music. Also the bathroom is separated via a frosted glass wall so perhaps only stay here with someone you're familiar with!

Great location!
