Wonderfully refreshing, a great change from the usual hotel. Very easy to hot desk from the 'library'/shared lounge, central location, really genuine and helpful staff, comfortable rooms and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Courtyard venue was perfect and quiet.

Fantastic hotel, I can pick faults with many hotels but this was great. Unique and very well presented. Reception, bar, food all excellent and rooms amazing fun, quality bedding, mood lighting all remote controlled.... Never usually want to come back to a hotel but want to with this one 10/10....

I stayed at CitizenM Bankside in February while doing an event at Tate Modern. The hotel is in a great location, close to the Jubilee line and bus routes, very close to the Tate Modern and within a short walk from the Borough Market. All in all, a fantastic location. And the entrance and lobby do not disappoint either. With several distinct areas where guests can sit, chat, meet and hang out, the lobby is very social and inviting. It even has long tables with computers where people sit and do email. The staff are pleasant, inviting and the check in was very smooth.

Ok, so those are the pros. As for the cons of the place - the rooms are small. No, really small! They are actually a bit reminiscent of those cubicle hotels in Japan, rooms that you literally crawl into to go to sleep and pay a pittance for. But of course these are full price rooms and you can barely turn around in them. I was staying there on my own so felt ok about the space but friends who were sharing a room were very claustrophobic. Adding to the sense of the walls closing in, the windows are sealed shut. The whole hotel, as someone explained to me, has an architectural structure a bit like a lego building. So, one piece slots into another and this makes the whole thing hermetically sealed. With no way of opening a window, in the rooms that look into the courtyard in particular, you are really enclosed. I found the whole experience unsettling and while I think the hotel is very cool and reasonably priced, I might not stay there again.

Room Tip: I guess ask for a room looking on to the street to get rid of the sense of enclosure.

Not only is this hotel close to a range of must go places in London (Tate modern, Borough Market, Vinopolis etc) but it's a really good rate.
The beds are king sized and really comfy. The room is small but that's ok if you'll be out and about all day and night.
The decore in the communal areas is nice and modern.
It also has free wifi and movies in the rooms, what more could you want?

Well it is certainly a different kind of hotel! It has a kind of self service check-in and check-out in the lobby, but there are very friendly hotel staff there to help the uninitiated. The actual room is not spacious but we found it very comfortable. All the controls for the room - lights, temperature, TV, etc. are controlled by an i-Pad! Its location near the Tate Modern is very convenient. The hotel itself doesn't have a restaurant but there are plenty nearby - we particularly enjoyed The Table just round the corner in Southwark St. We will use this hotel again when next in London.

We had to try this purely on the basis of the great reviews which proved so right. I'm trying to write this with a balanced view and may as well give up. It was perfect! Everything about it. Just such a shame we couldn't spend more time here. The room, the bed, the gorgeous relaxed lounge/bar area, the completely dedicated, helpful and friendly staff, the food, all brilliant. Don't hesitate in booking a stay here folks. You won't be disappointed. :)
