We loved the atmosphere and the attentive, friendly staff. The lobby area was full of interesting things to look at and different corners to relax in, so you could spend a long time here. The visitors were young and old, so even though the hotel has a young person's feel, you did not feel out of place as an older person.

Room Tip: They give you a choice when you arrive, of a city view or quieter internal courtyard view

Just back from an amazing weekend at Citizen M Bankside ... Super stylish funky interior . The staff are really friendly and always on hand .
The 'pod' is simply amazing ... Free wifi ,movies, super clean and comfy ...the most comfortable bed which is huge and pillows like big fat marshmallows ... The shower ( waterfall) is yet again amazing . Attention to detail is what makes it stand out from crowd ... Complimentary toiletries that smell beautiful ... Mood lighting .. Soundproof room with blackout blinds also help towards the best sleep I've had for ages.

Lots seems to be said about the lack of a kettle in the rooms !!!! With a 24 hour Citizen canteen and a M&S food hall across the road with yummy hot bacon rolls and coffee on tap .. I really can't imagine what the problem is

I HIGHLY reccommend staying here ...

We can't wait to go back

CitizenM is excellent value for money. With a comfortable bed, free wifi, fridge, rainfall shower and easy to use control tablet, it was funky and functional. The staff were friendly during my 7 day stay, and often remembered me. CanteenM can be a bit pricey, but there is an M&S across the road, as well as many affordable restaurants/takeaways. The communal areas downstairs have a great vibe, and come across as a very creative space. The Macs downstairs, with free printing, also made it easy to print off tickets and whatnot.

Walking distance to Tate Modern, Globe Theatre and Millennium Bridge was very handy. Bus services on Southwark Street were convenient. I have to say, though, that I preferred London Bridge underground station to Southwark underground station – I was travelling alone, and Southwark station kind of feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, especially at night.

I only had a few gripes. Like many reviewers, I found the lack of tea and coffee facilities in the room to be inconvenient. I knew about it going in, but it's only when you're absolutely exhausted at 1am in the morning do you realise how annoying it is to have to have to go downstairs and pay £1.95 for a tea.

Moreover, the housekeeping standard was a bit inconsistent, with some days looking like a mere tidy and other days producing a more thorough clean. I also effectively lost £20 when housekeeping 'lost' a garment that had been sitting on the bed (I received a verbal apology from Reception, but I'm still out £20, aren't I? Not impressed with the lack of compensation after the clear error...)

There are some soundproofing issues, as I could hear the sound of my neighbours stomping around in their rooms, as well as street noise during the night and people walking through the hallway.

Would I stay here again? If I was on a budget – and if housekeeping are more careful – then yes.

Room Tip: Get a city view room for privacy, otherwise you'll be looking in on other people in the courtyar...

Stayed here for one night and already can't wait to stay here again.
Personally I didn't find the rooms too small, as in I couldn't really imagine someone feeling claustrophobic in them and there's enough room to stay comfortably. The beds are pretty big and comfortable, the toilets are cool and the waterfall showers with the mood lighting is just lovely. I think anyone would be intrigued by how you can control everything in the room through a tablet, it really does make you feel like the rooms made just for you. You're offered a wide selection of TV channels and so many movies especially the newer recently released ones and there's free access to wifi so even if you want to stay in and have nothing to do, there's something to do.
Downstairs, the bar area, gets pretty busy at night, I'm pretty sure atleast half the people that were at the bar weren't actually staying at the hotel but I can totally understand why. It just looks nice and fun, it's one of those places that you want to be seen at and it's welcome to anyone and everyone.
The staff probably deserve a seperate review of their own as they're just amazing. From when you come in to stay all they want to do is help but without being too in your face about it, essentially they know what they're doing and they probably know what you'll want too. Although there are leaflets available downstairs, if you're looking for something, you're better off asking the staff as they know the area very well, down to exactly where you can get ice cream at 3am. They're all friendly and up for a laugh especially when it comes to certain products available for sale downstairs.... As I went the night before valentines day with my boyfriend, we were given a couple free drinks at the bar when I went to pay for something I wanted to buy from the canteen, which was also given to me for free from this lovely guy whose name I've completely forgotten but I'm pretty sure any of the staff members would have done the same as like I said they're very friendly.
The food at the canteen seemed a little limited although I did only check at midnight and found a variety of drinks and there was fruit from what I saw, however, there is a Vapiano literally opposite the hotel which makes italian food exactly how you want it and with it being in London, you're never too far from food establishments if italian isn't quite what you fancy.
All in all I'd definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who would essentially like to be comfortable and experience something that's not quite the norm.

Having stumbled onto this hotel on tripadvisor and having a bit of a querky side this looked like the ideal spot for a weekend getaway with my partner.
After booking a lot of friends and co-workers mentioned they had stayed in the Glasgow and Amsterdam flavours for 1-2 nights and loved it....Good News

So to the review, firstly I have to say the staff are some of the friendliest I've ever met on my travels (especially in the U.K), from the chilled demeanour, confident advice and general understanding of guests wants and needs they make the hotel.

Firstly the room which looked small online is actually spacious for the layout and for 3 nights we had enough room for all our clothes, shopping bags, technology incl chargers and the fridge accommodates a few essentials....the ironing room is a great touch....

Loved the free wi-fi (Great range throughout hotel), tablet controls for TV, lighting, temperature and not forgetting the free movies which were perfect after a long day on your feet shopping / sightseeing.

Had some really good food when we decided to stay in on the first night and when the cocktails flowed....

Stayed in a courtyard facing room which can feel a little weird overlooking other rooms but hey it was a little different...

Only downside for me and this is a small one was not having coffee / tea making facilities in the room. This is a very small niggle as I could go downstairs / over the road but as a I need coffee to function this would have made it perfect....-2% only

Oh and you have to try the Lord Nelson Pub round the corner for a burger.....Do It !!

I had booked this hotel for an overnight stay in London on the recommendation of a friend. Booking on line I had made a mistake and arrived a month early for the reservation. The staff could not have been nicer about the error and quickly did their best to accommodate me. To add to their workload it was a busy afternoon and I am a wheelchair user so they wanted to assign me an accessible room. Within ten minutes it was all sorted and I was checked in. The room was stylish, clean and well equipped. All the staff were very friendly and excellent at their job. I will certainly stay there again, given the price and the quality of the experience. Well done the M Ambassadors and thank you.

+Very clean, functional and modern hotel.
+Everything works on a tablet including your TV, room temperature and lighting.
+Multiple mood lighting options available. Rates include wifi and unlimited
movies (including all types :)).
+While there is no gym, there is access to a full scale fitness center run by Bankside fitness for 5 GBP. Rather have access to a full scale gym, then the small depressing ones run in-house by hotels. Others should ape this concept too.

-Rooms and small with the wash basin as part of room.
-Limited storage for your clothes
-Non personalized check in through an airline like self check in kiosk
-No room service

Room Tip: Choose the street facing rooms for the best sleep quality
