“Incredibly overpriced”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

A "double room" turned out to be a miniature room with one bed, in which two persones were supposed to sleep. To get to your sleeping place you had to crawl over the other person. The room was so crowded that the sink had to be separated from the toilet and shower.

The breakfast, at the cost of 12.5 Pound, consisted of coffee, a piece of bread, jam, juice, yougurt, fruit and that dreadaful English sausage.

Hi Hink-von-Hank,

Thank you for posting your thoughts here on TripAdvisor. I'm sorry to read that you felt we were overpriced.

Here at citizenM we do not hide from the fact that our rooms are on the small side. We've listened to our mobile citizens and key for them is the provision of a great bed and shower which we have not compromised on. We have comprimised a little on space as we all know that space is a premium in a city like London. We've done away with the bathtub, trouser press and sofa as these are features which no longer appeal to the new smart breed of traveller which we cater to. All this is reflected in some of the most competitive rates around. Our mantra here at citizenM is 'affordable luxury for the people' and we stick by this in all that we do here.

I hope this helps explain a little bit more about who we are so you are better informed when choosing where to stay next in London.

Safe travels,

citizenMarc

Really impressed with the staff at this hotel. Nothing too much trouble. A couple of minor problems sorted straight away. Very hospitable. Rooms small but ultra modern and very comfortable. Great public areas that make you feel very at home. Would definitely recommend.

Just back from working a couple of days in London and I am so glad that I chose the Citizen M over the usual group of hotels that I stay at. The main reason for this is London in July can be hellishly hot and the Citizen M has the most fantastic air con, none of this restricted opening windows that only lets the noise and fumes from the busy streets in. No this place is so cool and quiet you would almost forget you are in the Capital. After a busy day in meetings it is a true delight to walk into the lobby to be greeted by a fabulous friendly team of staff who really look happy to be working there. The chilled and quirky atmosphere makes relaxing easy as well as the amazing cocktails served at the bar.

Having stayed in Citizen M Glasgow & Amsterdam I was delighted to find the added bonus of a small fridge in my room, this just completes your room comforts. Talking of comforts you cannot get any better than the massive glouriously lush bed. With a fab rain shower and luxury end towels you would not think you could get this level of comfort for the price in London. I think my fellow colleauges will be booking in with me next visit after them sweltering in the usual hotel we use. It is a wee bit further away from our office but worth a taxi share to the finance district.

The only negative I have is that breakfast was of excellent quality but was not very warm. Glasgow uses heavy lidded hot plates that keep food roasting but the London hotel has open dishes that just does not manage to hold the heat in. Also lack of hot food available in late evening with no take away near by was not great but this may be looked at as hotel is quite new.

All in all you just cannot beat the quality, value and atmosphere of a Citizen M,so much so that my daughter and I are saving for a visit to the New York hotel or maybe Paris first.

Room Tip: Dont think you can get a bad room. Ours was courtyard view and was very quiet

Excellent decoration, very helpfull staff, convenient location. The rooms are a bit tiny but did not bother us at all because of all the other positive sides. The reception staff are very kind and they are there to help you at all time.

I had read reviews of this hotel before staying; I liked the look of it and the price. On arrival even though the check in is a bit self-service there was a friendly guy to help us. All went quickly and we even had a choice of room. I chose a room at the beck, probably not with the best view but I think the road at the front could be noisy.

The room itself looked a bit space age. A truly massive bed dominated it. The rest of the furnishings were a bit minimalist but functional. I was able to set the lights to different moods from a tablet computer, the TV was controlled through this also. There were free movies if you had time.
We didn’t eat in the hotel and there was no tea and coffee making facility’s but there were some local shops and restaurants nearby.
Would definitely stay here again.

There is only one negative point: the shower has little power, and is either boiling hot or freezing cold.

Everything else is fantastic. The design feels very comforting, but stylish, the bed is very comfortable, breakfast is great - a variety of choice but still high quality. Would definitely stay here again. The staff are welcoming and very polite. The rooms at the back are quiet, and there was 0 noise disturbance throughout our stay.

It is very close to both Blackfriars and London Bridge station so makes very easy access around London.

good room, so romantic, good bed, good decor in the whole hotel, good breakfast and staff very friendly and helpful. The bar was very appreciated after shopping and walk. Near the Tate modern, Borough Market, the Shard, Tower of London. I stayed with my daughter twelve years old and we come back soon, sure !
