“Centric, clean and cheap for London”
Reviewed 7 February 2014

Great location, its just 5 mins walk to King Cross St Pancras International station, which conects with most (or all the tube lines). The room is a bit small but was enough for us, was clean and had everything we needed. Notice that they only clean the room every 3 days. Although, I recomend this hotel... if you look for a regular-low price hotel (for London!) with central location.

Room Tip: I would avoid the low ground

This is the second time we have stayed here – and we find it offers excellent value for money. For under £50 per night you get a clean and comfortable room – yes it is absolutely tiny, but when you’re on a city break, you don’t need space. Staff were friendly enough, and the rooms were totally functional. When were stayed the first time we were in the basement, and thought the room was slightly bigger than the 1st floor room this time – the main difference we found was on the 1st floor the frosted glass shower-room door faced into the room, not the wall of the passageway (as in the basement) which offers little privacy.

I stayed here for two nights at the end of January and had no faults whatsoever. The location was perfect - only five minutes from kings cross station and the rooms were modern and very clean. We were on the basement floor and rooms are on the small side but this is to be expected in Central London and for the price you get a lot for your money here! One thing I'd say about the basement is the rooms tend to get quite warm but all rooms seemed to have air con included in the price so this wasn't an issue at all.

I would definitely stay here again in future - it is obviously budget accommodation so you'd be daft to expect to get tea/coffee facilities in the room. For the price you pay though you can hardly expect this, and I think it was extremely good value considering the rooms themselves and the excellent location. Definitely recommendable.

I stayed at the Kings Cross Tune Hotel for 3 nights whilst on a stopover through London. It had the best location a 2-3 minute walk away from the Tube so it was easy to get to and a simple walk with my hefty luggage when I had to leave via St Pancreas. The room whilst small is sufficient to store your luggage and lay your head after a day's sightseeing and exploring and the bathroom has a good shower. Although it would be a little tight with 2 people staying yet you spend as much time out of your hotel in London. The add-ons are a bit cheeky - it would be nice if the hotel had free wi-fi as do many other hotels - that is my only misgiving. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for a night or two.

I've just returned from staying at the Tune Hotel for two nights on a short break in London. There are several good and bad aspects of staying here, although overall it is a good choice for a budget hotel.

The location is very convenient, only about five minutes walk from King's Cross and St. Pancras stations, and very easy to find. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are nicely decorated and clean.

However, the room we stayed in (701 on the top floor) was absolutely tiny. Definitely the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Once we had our bags and ourselves inside, there was not a lot of space to move. However, when you're staying in London you spend as much time out of your hotel as possible, so the size didn't really bother us in the end. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well, as we had little disturbance from noise outside being on the back of the building.

One thing that really wasn't great was all the "extras" that can be charged for. We managed to bypass the issue of paying extra for towels, TV, Wi-Fi, the hairdryer and the safe by booking through laterooms.com, as bookings through them come with the "extras" as standard.

But other things are also charged where most hotels, even budget ones, wouldn't. For example, there is no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, meaning you have to go down to the lobby to buy a hot drink, or across the road to the Costa Coffee. Furthermore, when we arrived off our train, we asked if it would be possible to leave our bags until check in time. We were told that we could check in early, but at a cost of £5. On our last day, we were charged £2.50 per bag to leave them until our train left later that afternoon. Whilst this is the hotel's prerogative, and the left luggage charge is admittedly much less than at King's Cross, we've stayed at other popular budget chains before who would allow you to check in early if your room happens to be ready and to leave your luggage for free. This, unfortunately, gives these chains the edge over Tune for us.

The perfect budget hotel - everything you need, with no extras. Our double room was tiny but was clean, the bed was comfy, and the shower was excellent. We even had a surprisingly good view of the city! The hotel is extremely convenient for Kings Cross St Pancras and the staff are friendly.
