A pub with real atmosphere and character. Just had a beer but would like to give the food a try. Very friendly staff and regulars.

“Only there for beers”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

Welcoming local hang out. Most of the customers seemed like regulars. Yet we didn't feel out of place as tourist. The atmosphere was great.
The bartender was very friendly and pointed us in the right direction the get food for dinner, since most other pubs stop serving food at 3-4pm.
If you are staying in one of the many hotels in Bloomsbury, I recommend you visit.

“Overpriced food”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

We called in for an early lunch after a hospital appointment to be greeted by an unfriendly bar tender, distorted background music and the most expensive egg and chips ever costing over £9. We were charged the same price as if we'd had ham, eggs, chips and peas/ beans and the chips were overcooked frozen ones- not nice. Wish we'd just ordered chips for £2.25. Paying £7 for two eggs seems a little OTT even in London except of course if you're fine dining in one of the posh hotels. Won't be eating there again.

“A nice English pub”
Reviewed 10 July 2013

This pub is a little off the beaten track on the way to Russell Square and Southampton Row. Its pretty small inside and has a nice seating area outside that tends to get pretty busy.

The food - there's a pretty good menu that does a good range of sandwiches and mains. The mains are good sized, a little bit more expensive than neighbouring pubs but better quality in my opinion.

The beer - not a great deal for the real ale fans, and the drinks are in my opinion, pretty expensive. This is probably something to do with the location as it is on the tourist trail into town.

The atmosphere - homely is a good word. Its pretty small inside and the toilets are a bit of a trek. Its doggy friendly - the landlady's pooches are cute. There is no Sky Sports. Staff are friendly and polite and do good recommendations.

Its a place that if you stumble across it is perfectly nice, and is worth calling in, but if you are watching the pennies it is a little on the pricey side
