“Best place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014 via mobile

Wow what a great place to stay. The welcome we got was like we were staying in a 5 start hotel. Fantastic rooms, great value for breakfast as we were there with our kids and boy did they enjoy the breakfast. Staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Spoilt a bit at the end by taking the advice to park on the street on Sunday night and then when moving the car in the morning to the car park we were picked up by the congestion charge which cost £60. So if you have a car find a car park. There is one close by which was very good. We will be back!

We booked this hotel because we enjoy staying at Premier Inns and the location was meant to be good. We have to pat ourselves on the back. The hotel was very well situated and was a fairly easy walk to the south bank of the Thames. We could easily reach the London Eye and surrounding areas and a little further in the opposite direction we could reach Tower Bridge. It is well within walking distance of Tube stations also so getting to and from was no hassle.
The hotel itself was really clean and every one of the staff were great. They were chatty and helpful and always available. We had a meal in the onsite restaurant which was responsibly priced and tasty and had a few drinks in the bar which again were not expensive. If you want snacks or even a few cheaper drinks there is a Tesco express literally next door.
In the right room there is also a great view of the Shard. We have a great photo of the Shard in the early morning fog with the top part covered in cloud.
I think from experience this Premier Inn is slightly more expensive than others nearby. There is one at Blackfriar on the north bank which was a little cheaper and one down by Tower Bridge which is cheaper again. however I am not sure if they are better located so the extra price may be worth the time saved in travel.
If you can get a good deal on this hotel I would strongly suggest you go. Also do the London Eye at night, it is beautiful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Shard.

The location is convenient around 400 metres from Tate Modern. Very noisy outside during the daytime due to construction work. Room could have been cleaner. Bogey not cleaned off bedroom wall, what looked like blood spatter on the ceiling. Impossible to get room temperature right at night due to their providing a thick Winter duvet with no thinner alternative. Bar area is very small. Breakfast very mediocre. They describe the sausages as new and tasty. Well, tasty is a personal thing but cheap beef sausages are not for me. Baked beans were cheap and awful. Tasted like someone had loaded them with sugar. Staff friendly. Not the best Premier Inn I've stayed in and, like the others in London, way over-priced

We were a family of four using the hotel to attend a nearby family Wedding. We found the hotel to be very clean and our room very comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast was excellent.

Having just returned from a short trip to London, I'd like to add to the already excellent reviews of this unassuming Premier Inn tucked away behind the Tate Modern. Having been met by Jamie's smiling face and the offer of a map, I can confirm that all the staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. A request for an extra towel and more tea (at midnight) was sorted in minutes. It's a few minutes walk to Southwark tube station and very close to the fabulous Borough Markets. There's a small Tesco and Sainsburys next door with an ATM and a Costa opposite. We'll definitely be staying here again!

Room Tip: Had a room opposite the lift but it was still quiet so any should be fine.

I've stayed at my share of Premier Inns and this tops the lot.

Great location. Great staff. great restaurant and sturdy rooms with air-conditioning. So glad I chose this place. Much as I love Premier Inn this one seemed to be a level above.

Stayed here recently, for one night. Great location near Tate modern just 5 minutes away Shard and Borough Market 10 minutes away, near tube, lots of pubs and restaurants, shops nearby as well. Staff were excellent and friendly, rooms were typical premier inn everything you need for a good stay but no frills, air con was a huge plus due to hot weather. Great deals are available sometimes, had a great time and would recommend as a good base for London. Would happily stay again , premier inn also have good night guarantee.
