Stayed here for 2 nights as me and my boyfriend was attending a concert at the 02 arena (20 mins away). It took us about 45 minutes altogether on the tube/DLR from Waterloo but that wasn't a problem for us. After that was then a 5 minute walk from royal Albert DLR stop to the hotel. Didn't realise that London City airport was across the river from the travelodge but again that wasn't a problem because we couldn't here the planes fly by from inside our room. Good sized, well equipped and clean bedrooms with the comfiest beds!!!!! Would definitely stay here again when visiting London!(:

Short walk to London Excel. Great bed and great price if booked early. Clean and uncluttered. Very quiet at night. No need to set alarm as the first flight out of City airport will wake you up at 07:03

Good location but otherwise fairly poor. Room: way too hot on arrival and throughout stay. Tiny little window only way of getting ventilation as no air con but hotel is right next to the airport so either go for stiffling hot hotel room = no sleep, or very noisy airplanes every few minutes = no sleep. Room is also very poorly sound proofed internally and all room and other internal doors close very heavily and noisily so add to the airplanes the noise of slamming doors every couple of minutes - great. Room was clean and seemed newly renovated and was relatively comfortable except for the heat! They provide you with the tiniest, maybe 50ml of gel which is meant to act as shower gel / shampoo and your hand soap! No additional provided and in my room they didn't even replace this the next day when the room was cleaned! Breakfast was reasonable quality but £7.65 and I hadn't realised it was not included - staff on the desk at breakfast were exceptionally slow to process the charge for breakfast when I was on a tight schedule. Overall: convenient location but uncomfortable stay.

I dont normally do reviews but one thing I was disappointed with has prompted me to do this. Overall it was a normal travelodge experience, a hot room with a duvet thats too thick, but that doesnt put me off staying there.
Our room only had a shower which we were fine with but said shower did not have any shelf in it or one of those squeezee bottles fixed to the wall that you get at other establishments.

This meant that any shampoo bottles or soap had to go on the floor of the shower and which didnt make for a pleasant showering experience.

This is a fairly new hotel and all walls in the bathroom are plastic cladding and there has never been a shelf in the shower so it does look like this is a new design.

Travelodge please tell me why?

Have stayed at Travelodge in different locations & know that they are budget but there are small things that can be done to make your stay enjoyable at little or no cost, both that London Excel didnt do. Hotel chose for location and free parking for our 3 nights in London for family of 4. Room was corner room that had 2 additional put up beds, but supplied us 3 towels & 6 coat hangers, 3 cups. Room was never cleaned & seeing staff was like playing hide & seek and when seen they avoided conversation let alone a smile. My daughter was on crutches but at no time was any assistance offered unlike the Premier Inn we stayed the day before where they smiled & offered help when required.
