“Cheap hotel, worth the money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

Me and two mates booked a three bedroom room after we saw a UFC event at the O2. We paid £18 pp for the night and it is worth the money. Its a great location as its a tube stop away and has plenty of car parking space out front.

The beds are very comfy and you get a large room for the money that you pay.

If we go back for another event, we will definitely book the excel Travelodge again.

This is a cheap hotel by London Standards, seven days for less than 600 quid. The hotel is cheap as in, small room, tiny bath, didn't change the sheets for a week, no soap, no phones, no AC, bad food, and nothing good to eat in the immediate area. It is about a 10 min walk to the Excel center and a five minute walk from the Docklands Light Rail station from which you can go just about anyplace in London. The good news, it is cheap to stay and the staff was very helpful. Allow yourself plenty of time to get to Heathrow by cab (took me 2 hours).

Room Tip: You are next to London City airport, it is nosy all over

Modern, clean hotel, free parking, excellent efficient staff.
Rooms too warm, but that's a design issue, fan in room.
Breakfast is basic but okay.
Perfect for staying at ExCEL which is only 600yds away

Stayed in this hotel while attending a convention at the ExCel Centre.

Pros:
Nice modern rooms
Close to the ExCel (less than 10 minute walk).
Friendly staff.
Average budget buffet breakfast.

Cons:
EXTREMELY hot room with no AC. The fan provided in room was ineffective at improving this.
Noise from London City Airport, numerous building work and the DLR.

I would recommend this as a budget hotel provided you are okay with intrusive noise and extremely warm rooms. Otherwise I would avoid...

Stayed here to take part in ride100... Pay for what you get. Room is standard travel lodge decor, rooms are small but to be honest we weren't in the room much. Bathroom is teeny tiny but was clean.
Reception staff lovely. You can hear the dlr and planes but nothing major. The hotel was noisy from about 5am but purely because cyclists getting in and out the rooms and setting off to the event... You accept that though due to the size and scale of the event!
The room was vvvv hot that was the only drawback. Free parking was offered which I thought was really good for London!

Recently stayed here for 2 nights.
Seemed to be very much cheap than other hotels and also other travelodges.
Great location 1 minute walk from the dlr tube station.
Arrived to very welcoming reception staff also very helpful with my questions via to checking in and throughout my stay seemed nothing was too much for them. However as we walked to our room and put the card through walked in to find the room had not been done. We could have waited 10 mins but having gone back to the reception checked in to another room in the hotel.
It's very close to the city airport infact one can even see the planes taking off from the runway not from our room though but family rooms seem to have this privilege. Although our view was very good could see the tube line. Of which had frequent trains every couple of minutes. it was a quiet place regardless of the airport and tube line. Once the windows are shut it's hard to hear anything at all. I was very surprised by this.
Both nights had great nights sleep.
Breakfast and other meals available but we had neither, always there seemed to be people at the bar or in the restaurant though .
Great hotel great view great price great staff (at the end of the day it's a travelodge not.the savoy)

Visited Hotel to complete London Triathlon 2014, various road closures due to event but no prior hotel info to guide you there through 'other' access road, on arrival we had to park elsewhere (paid) as we couldn't get into hotel car park due to roads and walked bike and 6 wk old baby to hotel. On arrival receptionist did not know how we could get car to hotel, so due to bike storage needed we had to Pay for early check-in. Made a brew in warm room and milk had gone off in cartons. Poor sized room, Hot when weather warm, staff seem uninterested, got given free evening meal that wasn't worth free! Luke warm, felt like it had been hanging around kitchen waiting for someone to order it! Walked over to neighbouring hotel after Triathlon, other hotels seemed much nicer with nicer staff so ate and drank there on second night instead!! Will not return to this hotel, regardless of cost.
