Cheap and cheerful basic hotel for if you just need somewhere to sleep. Had a triple room and have to say loved the bunk bed, although my friends and I knew each other very after using the shower that's IN the room. Would be helpful if a bathmat were provided because there's a gap at the bottom of the shower door where all the water comes out onto the floor of the room. Very clean and staff were very friendly (helpfully printed off a map to help us get to Brick Lane for somewhere to eat, but word of warning, if you don't like Indian food your choice of restaurant in the area will be VERY limited) although not very helpful when I was ill during the night, my friends asked for some cleaning materials and all they could provide were a couple of extra towels. Would have been nice to have some proper cleaning equipment so that the unfortunate soul that cleaned our room wouldn't be subjected to cleaning up after me. All in all though for £79 we had a clean, comfortable room, with free wifi, however no tea-making facilities which is quite a shame.

I was happy with this hotel. For what I paid it was excellent value given its location and the level of comfort provided. It is in the middle of two subway stations (I think Aldgate East is more convenient than Whitechapel) and the room was modern and comfortable. The free wifi was good. The hotel staff were all friendly. I was a bit disappointed that there were no tea making facilities in the room and when I asked about hot water they asked how many cups I wanted. As I am not used to hot water rationing, I didn’t take any.

There are plenty of eating places around. A Tesco supermarket is just around the corner and an HSBC branch is also close (good for withdrawing money). I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so can’t comment on it. Luggage storage after check-out costs two quids.

Recommended.

Tip – The nearby Genesis Cinema, which is a few minutes’ walk westwards from the Stepney Green Station or a few bus stops eastwards down Whitechapel Road, is a good place to see movies as the ticket price is about half of those of the cinemas at Leicester Square.

We have just returned from a three night stay at the Ibis Whitechapel. It was spotlessly clean, very quiet, and we were on the side of the mosque, and the staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Yes it is basic but if you are looking for somewhere on a budget its perfect. We found the area to be safe even at night time and transport links into central London were excellent. Breakfast was good value and more than adequate. We would definitely return.
