My word, I've stayed in some places but this tales the biscuit... whilst I accept that this is a no-frills hotel (and I have no issue with that,), what I can't accept is the lack of hygiene with multiple bugs in the bed, no heating despite several complaints and, today, no hot water at all in either the sink or the shower.

If you're a student, you need to get a roof over your head for a short time or cash is tight then fair enough, but you have been warned...

£40 for a room in London somewhere clean and safe? No brainer!!!!

Only downside is the maids were so loud the next morning that they got us up at 8am (we had got in at 5am so it was v unwelcome). So my only recommendation to those at Easyhotel is kept it down please, the walks are mega thin!

Breakfast is 2mins away at Wetherspoons. Don't make our mistake of going to the local kebab shop, not sure what meat we ate

I stayed here a few times when it first opened and fully accepted the basic no frills approach, with good cheap stays as can be seen in my previous reviews. But...... now it is getting very tired and worn out. The general welcome is still quite good, especially cheerful Anna. However, on visit earlier this week: First room I was allocated turned out to still be occupied - OK these things happen; the second room was right by some very noisy electrical equipment which was claimed as being something to do with the building works on the upper floors; the third room was OK, except the heating /cooling didn't work - one of the ceiling vent mouldings was totally missing, and the others were stuffed with loo roll. The shower curtain was mouldy, and I don't mean a couple of tiny patches. There was no plug in the sink, and no loo paper! If you can get the room for under £30, then you can put up with these things to a degree, but often the rooms are nearer £60 or over, which is totally unacceptable - so I vote with my feet!

Easy hotels are really good value for money, with no frills. For £25 per night it really is very good. There are a lot of reviews on here about the rooms being a little hot.... And they are, but I have found the staff to be exceptionally helpful and friendly, and they could not go any further to help me when I needed to move rooms because I could not get wireless Internet. Which brings me on to my final point, there is no wireless in the rooms, but you can get a signal on the ground floor. So in summary, great location, amazing value, really helpful staff, but no in room wireless and the air con really needs fixing as I'm sure it breaches health and safety regs. Overlooking that I will be staying again.

24 year old couple, staying for a single night Saturday 07 December.

Overview
We chose Old Street Easyhotel as we were looking for a cheap roof over our heads.

We are familiar with the Easy brand and were fully expecting it to be no frills. However, there are some things that a hotel should never be without.

We are not fussy and hardly expect star treatment.

Pros
- Convenient location for time spent in the East End
- Nearby amenities (tube station, shops, restaurants & bars)
- Cheaper than all local alternatives
- Room was spotless

Cons
- Shockingly rude staff (no greeting, can barely bring themselves to help customers as they more interested in watching basketball on the laptop or surfing eBay for a new watch)
- Air conditioning is set for the entire floor and was overpoweringly hot. This was clearly a consistent problem in the hotel and the receptionist and offered to "block the pipes" - this involved stuffing toilet paper into the vent - hardly a solution
- Room is as sparse as could be. In a twin room, there were two beds, shower/toilet/sink, a mirror, a ceiling and a some floorboards. There's no table/other surface to put your valuables (instead, choose a corner of the room). There are no cups to drink from either
- No hot water from the taps (tap was prevented from turning beyond cold)
- For extras (like late checkout/luggage room), hotel does not accept card/cash payment - only online through the website. Extremely inconvenient, and booking charges applicable (?!) Good luck if you don't have a smartphone

Conclusion
We knew the hotel would be basic, but there's little justification for such bad service and lack of basic offerings like hot water from the taps.
In future, we will avoid Easyhotels and pay the difference for an alternative.

This place should be shut as it doesn't deserve to be called a hotel. My friend and I were using it simply due to it being near to a venue we were attending for a concert- luckily we were only there the night. The heating has one setting- sauna like. Walls are there but serve no purpose- you can hear full conversations being carried out in neighbouring rooms. Reception was flooded with buckets on the floor trying to contain the mess. This place is a mess and I wouldn't even advise rats to stay here

Stayed over for one night for a quick business trip.

Once in bed and falling asleep, was woken up by a couple in the next room having sex.

That's okay, after all, it is a quite common thing for couples to do in a hotel room.

However the lack of soundproofing in this hotel, saw to it that I would have hardly any sleep, as these two in the other room were at it for hours.

They seemed completely oblivious to the lack of soundproofing in the hotel.

It sounded as if the rooms were simply separated off with a thin sheet of hard plastic between bedrooms.

I had to listen to every pant of breath, slap, moan and scream.

The fact that you could literally hear somebody breathing says it all.

Add to this, the fact that despite there being a thermostat on the wall, it did absolutely nothing. It didn't work in any way whatsoever.

One of the air vents in the ceiling had been stuffed with an old flannel.

Through the night the room was a stuffy hot unventilated space.

The lobby was covered in buckets and containers, that were catching numerous leaks coming from the ceiling.

I've stayed at a previous easy hotel before, and the rooms felt private and reasonably well soundproofed.

This hotel however is one most certainly to be avoided.
