“Wicked place... A real aladins cave”

Crazy place among the hustle and bustle of London.... An oasis of interesting stuff, lovely furniture, interesting bits and bobs and they even have a blacksmith on hand to modify and adjust

“Turn on your IMaps and enjoy a culinary experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Until this weekend, I had never heard of the Maltby Street Market, so I was happy to explore this gem for foodies. Let's warn you up front: it is not easy to find, check out their website for the exact roadmap. When it is nice weather, you can be assured, there is a lack of chairs, so a lot of people sit just outside the street market on one of the sociale housing's parking lots. Someone who can put colourful benches or fatboys out, will do well. The street is a culinary treat, from Scottish eggs to Mexican food, an antique shop, African delicacies and yummy pastry. It is all there. The crowd is a mix of young families, tourists and locals. Foodies, free spirits and everybody who likes to try something different. Bring your cash, be patient and prepared to wait, do not fear a narrow street with loods of people and enjoy! I will be back, more to discover at a reasonable price.

“Hidden gem for a Saturday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

We all have heard of Borough Market near London Bridge Station. By 10.30 on a Saturday gets packed. An alternative is Maltby Street Market. Not far away and with such a variety on offer; from a Tapas bar, French cheese seller, lots of cakes, smoked salmon, salted beef, dried meat, different beers, scotch eggs and more. Really excellent place to spend a couple of hours. As well as "fast food" there are world class butchers & fruit and veg available. Finally Jensen Gin has an outlet. What more do you need? Highly recommended.

“Average street food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

I found this place totally pretentious and over rated. Full of the usual gormet burger and pulled pork buns that are everywhere. I found the food to be average and so not worth walking all the way from borough for. Broadway market and borough market are infinitely better and have way more options.

“A hidden gem off Tower Bridge, great food choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

Visited to have a salt beef on rye sandwich at Monty's Deli, which was just terrific, then walked round the Maltby Street market surveying potential future options ..... the standout choice for me was the tapas Bar Tozino with the amazing hams. See my pics. And the Buttermilk Waffles stall looked pretty damn good too, as did the Beef & Liberty Sunday Roast for £8. Busiest bar was Little Bird Gin serving guess what .... London dry gin!
Great way to go for a lazy weekend lunch, such a relaxed place with great atmosphere. Only open Sat and Sun. Parking not easy, try Tanner Street. Druid St is a one-way.
