“Good Hotel Excellent for The O2 Arena..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, decent beer on offer and a nice breakfast. Hotel guests also get 15% off all food and drink there, so really for London it's pretty good value.. Only niggle was that despite checking the bar closing time and being told midnight, we left O2 Arena just after 10.30 and got back to hotel at 11.15 (tube to Canning Town, DLR to Prince Regent) to be told they'd closed... luckily some other Python fans arrived back at same time as us, so we persuaded the lad behind the bar to serve us... Apparently its 11pm closing Mon - Thurs and Midnight at weekends..
Other than this a very pleasant stay..

Room Tip: Room 12 is a decent clean double

Stone's throw from Excel Areana and City Airport. Got a last minute deal on laterooms.com (£69) for a superior double (single occupancy). I would not have paid the normal price (£269). Free parking was a real bonus. The staff were great and made check in/out easy and fast.

Bar was heaving when I arrived (to be fair they did warn me) - England game (20th June), no parking spaces but they found me a spot on a grass verge! Football fans not a problem for me being an avid football fan, but as a lone female chose to watch in my room on a large flat screen tv sat on the black leather sofa! The receptionist arranged to get me a bottle of wine so I didn't have to join the crush in the bar - nice personal service. Bar noise subsided after the end of the game and didn't notice the planes until 7.30am.

I didn't use the restaurant in the evening having already eaten on arrival, but the breakfast is one of the best I have had in all the times I have stayed in a hotel! As a chef by trade I was very impressed how everything was really well cooked and much healthier being grilled plus the option of poached eggs. A good quality huge meaty sausage was a real bonus compared to the 'no meat' ones you usually get in hotels! It was worth every penny of the £8 I paid. I was attending a funeral that day and then travelling back to Yorkshire and didn't eat again until I got home that night.

My only constructive criticism would be this - for a superior double a nice touch would have been towelling dressing gowns in the room. Also a box of tissues on the dressing table. I also found the size of the shower ridiculously small for the size of the bedroom. A square unit in one corner of the small bathroom with lots of floor space available in the main bedroom. The shower and bathroom could have been made much bigger and didn't match the classification of the room in my view.

However, everything was very clean and crisp linen on the bed was first class as was the tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were also very friendly and incredibly helpful. I was made to feel very welcome.

Well done!

Very nice staff, felt at Home.

Consider a 10 minutes walking distance to the Underground station or ExCel center.

Rooms are convenient
They have a good and busy bar downstairs.

We stayed here one night for a recent concert at the O2. Although reasonably good location for the O2 this place really over prices itself when something like this is on. Room was supposed to be superior double. I think not. Would not stay again at £269 we paid for one night

We managed to bag a bargain (£69) and only 30 mins from centre of London on underground.

Friendly staff on arrival and good access at back of pub once closed. Only downside was the small bed (due to small room) and foxed shower head which made having a shower uncomfortable. Slept well even though on comfy mattress.

In the middle of nowhere (which is not visible on photos), in between noisy roads with heavy trucks passing by. The staff is not too friendly. The food (we had our first dinner at the hotel) was REALLY BAD. They even failed to prepare decent chips!
The standard rooms are extremely small, the windows won't open, when the kitchen is working, the room gets filled with a terrible stink of fried oil. The matress was all worn out, the bed was tiny and too short (and we are not giants).
Don't dare order an espresso. They have decent equipment but they don't know how to use it at all... and they charge it as if they were in the centre of London!

I stayed for one night in May recently and found this to be an excellent hotel in every respect. From the moment I walked up to the hotel a smiling employee opened the door to me. The lady on reception decided to offer me a superior downstairs room as I had a large case for easy exit as I was leaving early the next day for London City Airport. Everywhere was super clean and modern interior, so although this is a Victorian listed building, the inside has had a refurbishment. Bed very comfortable and bathroom and everywhere super clean. Tea and coffee facilities in room along with TV, telephone etc. I had a meal in the large modern bar/restaurant/lounge area the night before and the beer battered fish, chips and peas were lovely. Altogether very friendly staff and this hotel puts all the others in the shade on price too! What a bargain of a super hotel.................... I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone and would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: If you have a heavy case do ask for a downstairs room. I had one right by the back door, so handy...
