We stayed here for one night on Saturday as we were in London to see a show at the o2 Arena.
We arrived early 11.30am and we told we could check in no problem which was nice. The rooms are incredible (we had 317 standard) and every minute detail has been though of. Good size, big bathroom with massive double shower and separate bath, all the toiletries you would need. The minibar is really well stocked though we didn't indulge :) Fresh lemons/limes provided etc.. even a discreet black silk bag revealed some extras you may need later on in the evening if you know what mean wink wink. (see picture)
Everything was high end/spec. Loved it. The same with the rest of the place, very comtemporary and stylish.
We felt the pillows too soft so got them changed to firm ones at turn down no problem what so ever. The lighting system is great and black out blinds too, everything electronically operated.
We really could not find fault with this place, the staff are just so polite and attentive in their service it was a joy.

The same unfortunately could not be said about the area, I admit I have never stayed in the "city" before, we usually stay in Mayfair/Chelsea/Marylebone. Its extremely quiet on a saturday day or night. When we arrived and explored the area around mid day everywhere was shut!! it was like a ghost town, such a strange feeling in London. We found somwhere to eat eventually but it was bizarre, even Starbucks and Costa were shut! When we returned that night after eating in Marylebone at 9.50pm we entered the pub on the corner by the hotel and she said we would need to drink up quick as they were closing at 10pm?? so strange? We decided to check out the hotel for drinks and the main ground floor bar was completely empty not one person in there. So we went up to the next bar on floor 2, that was shut too. We went up to the roof terrace which was open until late but only another couple were up there and it put a bit of a dampner on the evening as we felt we should just cut it short at 10.30! instead of traipsing the streets.
This is not the fault of the hotel but it is somehting you should bear in mind if you want to have a few before retiring for the night. Not sure if it always like this or maybe we were unlucky but it would put me off staying in this area again which is a shame as this was our favourite London hotel so far by a mile having stayed at 4/5 others. Im sure in the week its buzzing with all the city workers, but not this weekend or maybe any? If you prefer a quiet time then pick this place definately its amazing.

Dear Jaki07,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback. I am thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel, and that we are now your favourite hotel in London - that's quite an achievement!

The area immediately next to the hotel can indeed be a bit quiet at weekends, but really lively areas such as Shoreditch, Old Street and Hoxton are all just a few minutes’ walk away. With that in mind we have produced a guide to the local area, and our Concierge staff are always happy to give recommendations and information about exciting events taking place.

I hope we can welcome you again soon at the hotel so you can explore our more exciting neighbourhoods.

Best regards,
Bruce

South Place is in a convenient location, 5 minutes away from Liverpool Street Station, making it a quiet yet very accessible destination for reaching central London.

Because it was our one year anniversary, I requested a surprise bed of flowers. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised, by not only the beautifully laid out flowers, but also a chocolate brownie with Happy Anniversary written on the plate.

The front desk was very helpful, providing us with all the information we needed. The service was excellent delivering room service quickly. The room was very chic; the black out blinds were perfect, along with the lighting (allowing a bright room or a perfectly dimmed light for our romantic evening). The cleanliness of the hotel was exceptional. The only flaw was the pillows, which were too soft. But all in all, a wonderful experience. I would definitely revisit the hotel in the future.

We stayed one night in South Place Hotel and it was hands down the nicest hotel experience we have had in London. The design is fresh and hip, without making us "middle-aged" travelers feel out of place. The room was spotlessly clean and well-appointed. When we asked for an iron it was delivered in under two minutes. The bed was heavenly...the most comfortable hotel bed I can recall. The breakfast downstairs was fresh and delicious and priced as one would expect for a nice hotel. When we were getting ready to make our journey to Heathrow, we were offered a car service which was £65. We jumped on it, since there were two of us with large cases and that was quite a bit less than a cab. Now a word about the blackout blinds...first of all, everything is controlled with very modern flat panels with touch-screen buttons. Very high-tech and intuitive. When retiring for the night, at a somewhat late (early morning) hour, I noticed the button on the bedside panel that looked like a window. Pushing it caused a blind to close behind the semi-sheer curtains. This thing was AMAZING! Not a sliver of light crept into that room to disturb our sleep. It was an incredibly sunny (very late) morning when we felt up to greeting the day. Until we pressed that button to lift the blind, it could have been midnight for all we knew. Highly recommended! We will be back.

Stayed for 4 days in June 2013. The hotel is quite new and is very well located. 5 mins walking distance from Liverpool Street station. The concerige staff is extremely courteous and very knowledgable. Since it is a boutique hotel, the rooms have a neo-modern and edgy decor albeit, very tastfully done. The seafood restaurant on the rooftop is well known for fine-dining. The cafe on the ground level serves excellent breakfast at very reasonable price. I was surprised when my table attendant on Day 2 remebered my favorite coffee. These little things make a huge difference, especially when you are staying 4-5 days at a strech. New rooms, good decor and excellent service.

The staff were outstanding at the South Place Hotel. The room was a nice size for London and so was the bathroom. Spotlessly clean. The bar downstairs is AMAZING (but very pricey!). A sambuca shot was £10. However, I cannot speak highly enough of the staff. Friendly, helpful and just FANTASTIC! One 'small' negative for me was the location. Having lived in London for 3 years, Marylebone is my local hangout. I didn't quite like the area. It's the financial district so very quiet at night. Having said that, it's on the central line so it's nice and easy to get into Regent/Oxford Streets. Even though the location was not to my liking, I would definitely stay there again if the price is right. THANKS SOUTH PLACE for an enjoyable stay at your hotel!

We've stayed in lots of places over the years but this is now one of my worldwide favourites. From the start the staff are wonderful. The rooms are good sized and fun with lots of technology. There are plenty of super fluffy towels. The rooftop bar is great on a summer evening with a wide range of top shelf drinks. Angler restaurant provides top notch food, focussing on seafood, at not unreasonable prices.

My only criticism is that the pillows are a bit flat and no other option was available. Also no top sheet is provided (a common criticism of mine these days) but will be on request.

Also if you need to get to sleep early don't get a courtyard room. They face onto the courtyard bar which does not close down until 10.15pm. Being a courtyard it gets REALLY noisy. Think trying to sleep in a bar on a busy Friday night. However, they do reassure you on check in that it will close around 10.00pm and they were true to their word on both nights that we were there.

Room Tip: Need to get to sleep early- don't let them give you a courtyard room.
