We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We were greeted warmly on arrival and I had requested a high floor room and asked for a bottle of wine to be in the room as a surprise for my husband. Our room was on floor 4 and facing the park, the wine arrived with a lovely plate of chocolates. So far so good. The room was immaculate and the bathroom had a really good sized shower. Plenty of toiletries and lovely white fluffy towels. So far so good.
We were offered breakfast at a reduced price of £10 each provided we booked the night before. So far so good.
on arrival in the restaurant there were a couple of tables occupied, we were greeted warmly and shown to a table and asked if we would like coffee. That was it, there was no explanation about help yourself to the buffet and the coffee eventually came when we asked for it by which time the meal was over.
The cold buffet was nice, there was a good choice of yoghurt, fruits and cereals. The hot buffet was rubbish, the food was cold, the eggs looked like toy ones found in a child's kitchen and everything else was cold. I asked the chef when he popped out if he could fry me two fresh eggs and they were delicious but the rest was not good.
The Waiter spent his time chatting to his female colleague, we were certainly not high on his agenda and our experience meant we did not eat at the hotel again.
in fairness we did complain when we left and the cost was deducted from the bill but if Hotel wants to be a good 4 star, the restaurant needs sorting out. It is letting an otherwise lovely hotel down. in view of this I have rated the service and value as a 2. However I must point out that the reception staff cannot be faulted, they are polite and friendly and really helpful but I would not recommend the restaurant.
