“Elegant and Comfortable”
Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

I have stayed here on around a dozen occasions in recent months (perhaps 40+ nights in total) and have always found the hotel to be quiet, elegant and comfortable with fantastic breakfasts.

It is a little out of the way, granted, but this is reflected in the pricing as I usually get a very fair rate.

As noted, you can either get the DLR to Deptford Bridge (around 35 minutes to Bank) or get a mainline train from Deptford to London Bridge or Cannon Street (less than 10 minutes). Onward travel to the West End would be another 15/20 minutes.

Recommended.

We booked here 30 mins before arriving with our three adult children after being let down elsewhere. The staff were all very helpful and made our stay a success. The rooms were stylish and very clean as was the rest of the hotel - lovely bar area. The hotel is close to a DLR station which was handy and is in a quiet area.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of July and had a lovely time. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk (if that) from Deptford Bridge DLR station.
We ate in the hotel 1 night and found the food lovely and very reasonable. The staff on reception, in the bar and restaurant were all very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our lights on the first night but this was sorted straight away.
We went into central London every day and found the public transport system perfect for this even coming back later on in the evening the DLR trains seemed to be every 10 minutes so we never found this an issue.
Some people have commented about the toilet/bathroom door being see through - yes you can see through but it is etched and has writing on so unless you really want to stare at the other person in the bathroom then it isn't really an issue.
All in all we had a lovely visit and would certainly recommend to others and will hopefully stay again in the future.

We stayed her for 2 nights and it's a lovely boutique style hotel. The rooms are quite small but for the price I think it justifies. I booked a superior room which was on the top floors and came with the small added extras that you don't get with a regular room....small things like slippers n robes. The hotel is quite convenient for transport, with the dlr being a stones throw away but note if you were thinking of walking into Greenwich town centre then it's probably a bit further than you'd want to walk on a daily basis. The hotel does a nice buffet breakfast and if you pre-book it's £10 which is quite a bargain, especially if you have time to enjoy a long breakfast. All in all a good stay, which if you book early enough is cheaper than some budget hotels!

The Mercure Greenwich is a little way from the main centre of Greenwich and can be tricky to locate. It is in a pleasant old building which looks like was originally some kind of council offices.

Very nice interior when you walk in. The reception desk is very small though and on a few occasions when I went out it had caused people to queue and get in the way of the main entrance

I'd got an excellent rate for this hotel through an Accor offer. The main issue I had is although it was prepaid, the hotel seemed very suspicious that I had got such a low rate even asking if I worked for Accor. They seemed to have no idea of the offers that their own company had and I had to explain this to them.

When I went up to the room - it wasn't the room I'd asked for or was showing on my booking. I had asked for a larger family room which is clearly available on this hotels website. I walked into what I thought was a lobby area of the room and then I'd go into somewhere bigger ... alas I was wrong, this was the room ... a 'double' that seemed to have a small desk area then the bed and a glass wall down the side behind which was a bathroom. It was also directly next to the lift shaft ...

So I went back to reception and the first person I spoke to was not very helpful - originally saying they had no other rooms and that this hotel does not have family rooms (even though their own website clearly says it does). Finally a very helpful duty manager came out and she sorted things out - I ended up with an interconnecting room to a much larger one which was great.

One issue with housekeeping - they obviously hadn't been updated that the new room I was in was now occupied and she just walked in without knocking. She did apologise, but then came back later and did exactly the same!

Room was really nice though - great beds - clean and tidy. Decent wifi signal.

Although I didn't use it - the bar area looked very inviting

I didn't have breakfast - just went back into Greenwich

The area the hotel is in is OK but due to its location I'd be cautious walking to and from the hotel late at night

Deptford Bridge is the nearest DLR station not Greenwich

Beautiful hotel, really modern and loved all the amenities in the room, super comfy beds, good tv and a brilliant shower. We stayed for two nights and got a bargain on last minute. Unfortunately the morning after our first night the hotel had no hot water, no one called to let us know so we thought we were being silly and didn't know how to work it. We called down at about 8:30, and it took 2 hours to be prepared, nothing was really offered to apologise to us which I thought was a but unfortunate. We didn't receive a call to tell us that the water was back on but it was nice and hot so we carried on with our day. The bar was lovely and it was gorgeous weather so were able to sit outside in a small seating area which was really handy. All in all a great trip, the staff were very friendly and polite.
