The Kensington Studios are located in a nice and quiet neighbourhood, off the tube map. The Studios can be reached by connecting from the Tube onto to the London Overground or there is also a Bus Service from Earls Court to a Stop close to the hotel. This would be handy to know when you travel from Heathrow Airport as the journey time calculated by London Transport takes at least double the time.
The room was nicely decorated and for London quite spacious. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom small but practical. Even though the dust stuck in the airconditioning and behind the surface but well visible survived already several clients and could do with a deep cleansing. The kitchenette with coffee and tea making facilities (incl. fresh cream) and the fridge came very handy.
The internet connection isn’t brilliant… we had the best connection standing behind the door which was quite uncomfortable when writing a longer email.
All in all we can recommend the place without any hesitation. Price/value was fine and we will def consider the Kensington Studios for future trips.

As is usual though at an awful lot of Hotels Wi-Fi is sketchy to say the least, even tehering to personal phone wasn't good...but hey, after a long day at an exhibition...nice not to have web access :0)

Stayed for a week in September, 2013.

PROS:
1) The location is good. It is a short walk to the tube station, but buses to the tube are always available from the front of the hotel.
2) good use of the space available and the kitchenette is good.
3) Although we arrived 2 hours before the check in time, the staff was very helpful and allotted us the room. Thanks for that.

CONS:
1) We had to roam a lot to find the place. The hotel could atleast invest in a good BOARD in front of the place to let people know.
2) A foul smell was coming all the time. The cleaning staff knew about it and they did place a room freshner in the room. We did not inform the management though cause we did not want to move rooms.

20 minute walk from nearest tube that they recommended, window was broken and the room was the size of a small bird cage - if you have to pick up your key from the sister hotel it is a 10 minute walk away ,, then a ten minute walk back to find out your swipe key isnt activated,,not good if its raining , overall bad experience and lots of road noise - no decent amenities close by
Avoid

My Wife and I recently spent seven nights at the The Kensington Studios in London. July 14th to 21st.
We originally booked the accommodation following an internet search for accommodation in the Kensington area of London with kitchenette facilities. We researched the Hotel on line and generally the information was favorable so we made a booking. We had already been in the UK for 3 weeks were, so we were fairly savvy to the way of life in the UK.
We caught a taxi from Paddington Tube station to the Hotel and, as others have mentioned there was no identification on the Hotel but it must be remembered that this is quite normal for small establishments in London. The fact of no identification offers a good level of security.
Upon arrival the staff were friendly and helpful as they were at all times during our stay. Our room was located on the 1st floor, was spacious and well appointed but for a few minor deficiencies. The rooms were clean, and serviced daily. We booked our accommodation well in advance which is always advisable in cities such as London.
The Hotel is well located with bus stops close by. The best bus stops were on the Kensington High St about 300 meters walk. From here you can catch a bus to almost any where in London.
The Shepherds Bush Tube station is in the opposite direction about a kilometer walk. This station is on the central line so all other tube lines are easily acceptable. There are plenty of good pubs, small grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance and within a couple of bus stops, there is also a dry cleaners about a hundred meters up the road that offer laundry services.
We were generally happy with the accommodation but a few minor improvements could have made our stay more enjoyable. The room had no electric kettle so we had to make coffee and tea by heating water in the microwave. There was no in-room information about the room. The staff did not know about some of the facilities available in the local area such as laundry services.
Good accommodation, reasonably priced for London.

Room Tip: Book well in advance and discuss the accommodation when booking.
