“great situation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2014

we are in our 70's, so do not look for backpacker or cheaper accommodation, so this hotel ticked all the boxes for us. It has 2 underground stations within a few minutes, great eateries in the vicinity, staff are young and great, food available on the premises. The river is close, interesting area. The rooms had all one needs, ok smallish, but very clean, have recommended to anyone who asks and would definitely go back.

It's got a great location - easy access to Southwark tube station, and only a short walk across Blackfriars Bridge from the City. Also very near Borough Market and Waterloo.
Room size is good, clean and comfortable. Not luxury, but a good option for a clean no-frills stay in London.

Stayed for one night on business, staff were all very helpful and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The room was a good size and the bathroom pod was quite a quirky feature and very functional. The restaurant was very nice and the food was good as well. The hotel was very quiet and I got a good nights sleep. The only thing that could be classed as a negative was the phone in the room didnt work but the hotel repair man sorted it out within 5 mins. I would stay here again if I was this side of London as only 10-15 mins walk to waterloo station even closer to southwark tube station and one of the most competitively priced hotels in the area. Another thing that was quite good was the shoe shiner by the lifts on the ground floor which always helps you look your best!!

Stayed in the Ibis Blackfriars for 2 nights. Standards Ibis stuff, basic and clean, quiet room except for the hum of the bathroom extractor. Breakfast was good. Location is ok, Tate is near by and so is St Paul's. It is also very close to the river Thames, Southwark tube and Blackfriars train station.

Decent sized room for Central London. Close to the centre and easy for tube.

Breakfast was a little bit of a let down as it was busy and we were shown to dirty tables then they were cleaned.
The choice of food was good and the sausages were great. There is also a choice cold meats fruit etc etc.

Staff were pleasant and the bar prices were a pleasant surprise for London.

All in all a good place that I would choose again.

Excellent location- close to Southwark Tube station and the river. Very convenient for a concert at the O2.
Friendly front of house staff- let us check in early and extended check out time by an hour to allow us to leave our bags in our room.
Room was typical Ibis. Clean and very comfortable beds. I still do not understand why Ibis rooms do not have a waste bin in the bedroom or ironing facilities in the room.
Breakfast was good but the breakfast area is too small leading to queues at busy times. I realise that space is limited in central London but this is not ideal.
Overall a good hotel in an excellent location and at the right price I would stay again.

Stayed at this hotel on a Saturday night as was going to the Theatre nearby and prefer not to travel back from town late at night. Location very handy for Southwark tube station and Blackfrairs Rail Station (South Exit) as well as a number of shops and resturants nearby on The Cut, including a Sainsburys Local and a Tesco Express (opening soon). This is a new-style Ibis and has a very nice Reception/Bar/Lounge area that looks like it belongs in a 4-star hotel which i really like. Room was the usual Ibis arrangement, clean and tidy as always. Shame the rooms aren't a bit more snazzy like the ground floor but there you go.
However i was a bit thrown by the unusual design. As is often the case with Accor they have more than one brand on the site, in this case a Novotel pairs with the Ibis. However where normally they are seperate buildings both of these have been built in the same building, with the Novotel rooms fronting Blackfrairs Road and the Ibis rooms at the rear. Don't have a problem with this, but it has lead to an unusual ground floor arrangement unlike it's more straightforward sister design in Shepherds Bush. You end up with a thin and long ground floor area, which goes on for ages, and the lifts tucked away in the extreme right-hand corner along a narrow corridor about as far from Reception as it's possible to get. Indeed i didn't see any signs and only recognised the lifts by the '15' branding that was on them! The floors above seem to be laid out in an usual fashion as well. It wouldn't put me off staying there again, although i couldn't shake the sense that as the more affordable of the two brand the Ibis had drawn the short straw space-wise.
This is probably down to personal taste but i found it a bit disconcerting.

Room Tip: I was on the 2nd floor and looked directly into the offices opposite, but there are 13 floors and I...
