Called in on Saturday. Impressed by the friendly service. We ordered the Baby Back Ribs and the Fish & Chips. Generous servings and the quality was excellent.I am an Ale drinker and was afforded a choice of 4. Went for the Blue Anchor which was in very good condition. My partner had a glass of New Zealand Cabernet which she enjoyed. In all a very pleasant experience in a pub trading since 1722!

Nice and quiet traditional pub ! Clean, well stocked bar and most of all dog friendly ! The views to the river are fantastic and the staff very accommodating ! Definitely going back for more ! Hope they retain its traditional look and the laid back style! We absolutely loved it and so did our dogs !

Very disappointed as on arrival we noted that what was portrayed on the internet as a clean little bistro pub turned out to be a tired, dirty pub with rude ineffective staff who were totally disinterested and unhelpful in the fact that the waitress taking our luncheon order had left out the main diner!! The birthday boy!! When we politely drew their attention to the error, as by now we were half way through our luke warm meals, one of the staff replied that sausages take longer to cook than our dinners so we should wait and then they will be served. We again waited and waited to no avail. It was very embarrassing and uncomfortable as my father in law had no food!! I must also point out that our table was upstairs and at no stage did any member come up to came to check on us. We had to go downstairs to make our wishes and then discomfort known.

The Blue Anchor pub was licensed in 1722 and is one of the oldest Public Houses in London. The decor has certainly been altered since 1722 but the Blue Anchor still gives this "oldy worldly" feel which is bereft from so many pubs in London nowadays. Well-prepared traditional pub food is served in generous portions at very reasonable prices considering its location. On a winter day, we took a group of cyclists for lunch and were designated to a long table on the first floor which gave us prime views over the Thames and Hammersmith Bridge. Catering for a large number was no problem for the kitchen and we were served all at the same time without pre-ordering which often pubs request. For small parties, seating downstairs in the bay window looking out to the Thames is also pleasurable and in the summer or sunny days, there are plenty of tables outside. On our various visits, we have always found the staff agreeable and efficient.

I popped in here on a Sunday evening with a girlfriend, to catch up and have a drink. However, seeing another customer dig into a huge helping of Sunday Roast, we were quick to order as well.

The food was tasty, there was lots of it and it was exceptional value at £11.95! The beer was excellent too.

If you want to visit a traditional British pub, with a great atmosphere in a super location, then this is it - you won't be disappointed!
