“Excellent new hotel, excellent location”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

This is the second time we have stopped here within a month. As the hotel is very new it was very well kept and is 2 minutes walk from Clapham Junction station. Anyone now aware please note that this chain do not have A/C in rooms and as quite alot of the rooms can face roads or the railway tracks this could be a problem if you need to keep the windows open.

Stayed here twice visiting family nearby. A few nights in December 2012 and 7 nights in early September 2013. Previous review has disappeared along with all the reviews older than a month. Opened September 2012 so has the new colour scheme, lighting and much better level of comfort than older style Travelodges. Booked 5 months in advance, less than £35 a night.
As others say, excellent location for station and buses, wide range of eating places, shops etc etc. Spotlessly clean rooms, fantastic comfy beds - room underneath for cases. Very helpful friendly staff.
December gave top marks for our stay in double room on 7th floor [712?] on the main street. Warm and cosy and only a faint rumble of trains.
This time, I'd have given top marks for overall rating and sleep quality for the comfy beds if only they had aircon. We booked a family room [611] for more space. But the heatwave meant we had to keep windows open at all times so it was very noisy, often hard to hear to tv and difficult to sleep.
In December the pavements weren't finished so the bus stops weren't in use. Now the downside of the excellent bus services mean they're breaking and pulling away, or standing for ages with engines running. Not to mention the shouting of the late night revellers. Despite earplugs the noise of a couple arguing in the street woke us at 2am. We'd have visited the tempting cafe outside but wanted to get away from the bus noise. Of course none of this is Travelodge's fault but we really couldn't stay here again in warmer weather.
If they put aircon in their hotels in noisier locations then for us it would be worth paying the extra cost, such as Premier Inn charge.

The decision making process to stay here was a little difficult for me as, although only £52 for the night, I had stayed previously and the rooms were a little run down. I decided to book based on price and location, as for central London it is perfect.

Upon arrival we were checked in by a less than happy looking receptionist, but a smile was forced at the end of the check-in as she explained how to get to our room.

We were in the exact same room as we had stayed in previously; room 304. As we opened the door, the distinct smell of paint hit us; the room had been renovated! Th decor was very modern and the bed very comfortable.

Now that the hotel has undergone it's much needed renovation, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anybody.

Just what you expect from a TL but very handy for the station.
Loads of good pubs and restaurants nearby.
If you book far enough ahead, it is good value too.
They offer a early entry and late exit option for £10 per time which depending on your transportation times can be pretty handy.

This TL is fairly new and for me it is a great location for visiting Clapham. Others have said it is a tad on the warm side and I can confirm that to be the case even more surprising considering its newness. The rooms are not a bad size for London and the reception was very friendly, it is what it is.

Room Tip: High and at the back to keep away from the train and traffic noise

We have just had two nights with Michael,James and Kristina who were just lovely reception staff and had a smile and a quick friendly chat whenever we entered or left the hotel.I guess you get back what you dish out and these reception staff were so lovely when we politely said "hi,hows your shift going etc etc".Both our kids loved the little chats they had with Michael. The hotel then is in a great location,15 mins away from central London via the overground then the underground. The station is literally a few minutes walk over the road. Clapham itself was sufficient with a choice of nice places to eat about a 5 or 6 minute walk away via the High Street past the main drag of shops eg TK Maxx/McDonalds to the next crossroads.Cafe Ole underneath the hotel was impressive, with lovely staff and a great menu for a snack and/or breakfast, their smoothies were delicious!!Next door to the hotel is a LIDL supermarket and also a Boots chemist. Some good traditional pubs a minute or two away and also a Revolution bar a hundred yards away, also a bookies across the road for a cheeky flutter. We had a family room on the 6th floor and for what we needed it was perfect.I kind of understand what previous reviewers have said about the warm rooms but even though it was great weather when we stayed it was manageable for all four of us in the same room and we all slept fine.As the hotel is located next to the busy overground station and a quite busy through road then of course there will be noise but it wasn't that bad.I took some earplugs which helped as i am a very light sleeper and they did the trick perfectly,my wife didn't use earplugs and she slept through no problem. The kids slept soundly also. The hotel was spotless and to our surprise the bedding was all changed on day 2 of our stay and the lovely cleaner even rearranged our girls teddies on their pillows which was such a nice touch. We booked about 6 weeks in advance and got two nights for a family of four for £106,proof that cheap rooms can be sourced online. We encountered nothing but good things during our stay in the hotel and we will definitely return for our next venture into London. For a short break with great location, great cleanliness and lovely staff i recommend this Travelodge 100%.Carry on the fab work you reception guys!!

Room Tip: Room 611 was great with good views up into the town and on the quieter side of the hotel too

We stayed for one night during a trip to Wimbledon, it was well located and excellent value. We had a good nights sleep and everything was well presented and functional. As with most trips to London we just wanted a hotel that was reasonable to sleep and use as a base, this hotel did this very well.
