“Basically brilliant!”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

You can't beat travelodge for basic cheap accommodation in London - the most expensive city in the world!? Clapham Junction is a great centre. Transport straight to Waterloo/Victoria is so accessible and there are so many lovely restaurants and cafés to choose from as well as a decent number of shops for 'mooching'. The Travelodge is right next to the station. It's basic and rooms are small but come on - we paid £45 for Sunday night! The staff here were very pleasant and helpful - much more welcoming, I have to say, than at Greenwich Premier Inn where we stayed two weeks earlier, and where we paid a lot more! We had no problem with noise, as suggested by previous reviews, and I'm quite a light sleeper. We come down to London a lot as both daughters live here (in shared flats so we need a base of our own). We won't look further than Clapham Junction Travelodge in future!

The bedroom and bathroom were functional and clean. The bed was reasonably comfortable. I have to say, though, that the tiny little reception area absolutely reeked of body odor. I wouldn't want to guess where it came from but it was really off-putting and really knocked my wife and I for six. First impressions count, and that was not a good first impression.

We are sorry to learn of your disappointment on arrival Paul N. We agree that first impressions to our hotel are importance and our staff would have been expected to notice any unpleasant smells around the hotel for the room to be aired out accordingly. We will be sure to pass on your feedback to the hotel management team so that can be aware of the improvements required.

Great spot for the 50th party we were attending,
very close to the station and a lot of bars and restaurants nearby for a variety of food.
Very Clean, Comfortable beds good sized rooms.
obvious general noise from outside of trains and planes but with the windows shut it was muffled to a low level so I would say more than acceptable for the area.
I would definitely book there again.

I can't quite understand why anyone would fit such shoddy windows to a hotel that is next to one of the busiest railway stations in Britain. The noise from the trains is constant day and night and the double glazing so poor that you can even hear people talking in the street - and that is from 5 floors up!

The room was spacious and warm, the bathroom more than adequate and the bed was extremely comfortable. The reception staff were very friendly and efficient. The location is handy for shops, pubs and cafes.

Not recommended for light sleepers.

We are sorry to learn you were disturbed by noise outside of the hotel Anthony H. Unfortunately due to the location of the hotel external noise may be heard, we do however in an attempt to make our customers stay more comfortable provide double glazing and insulated walls. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused on this occasion.

Given the budget price this was an extremely good value overnight stay and it lived up to expectations - but not suitable for an extended stay. Café Ole next door is brilliant for breakfast - much better option than the Breakfast Box. Only demerit was that I don't expect to pay a supplement for Wi-Fi nowadays.

Whilst I can't fault the room, it was incredibly comfortable and a decent size for a city travelodge it was by far one of the noisiest I've stayed in. I could have just been unlucky that the local street sweeper decided that was the night to do not one but three runs of the street and that the staff room was right next to my room where they decided to chat until 1am in the corridor, but I barely got any sleep.

If your expecting a quick checkout as well be warned they've cunningly taped up their card drop off slot so you have to wait until a member of staff surfaces to check out. Those problems aside it was a nice change to have a clean, well decorated travelodge!

Room Tip: If you find you have a room nearby a 'private' door ask to move, it won't be a quiet sta...

We are pleased to learn you found our rooms to be clean and our beds to be comfortable CountRushmore, it is however regrettable to learn you did not have a good nights sleep. Our staff are expected to respect their noise levels during their shifts so we are truly sorry to learn you found them to be noisy. We will be sure to pass on your comments to the hotel management team so that they can make their staff aware of the importance of being courteous around the hotel.

This is the 4th time I have stayed at this Travelodge this year and I will keep coming back. It is fairly new and in excellent condition. The price is good, the connections to central London are good and the rooms are very comfortable. The Cafe Ole downstairs is also excellent and makes an excellent source for breakfast (in the cafe or taken upstairs to the hotel room). We will be back.
