“Good value hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014

Picked this hotel because of previous good reviews on Tripadvisor. Was a bit disappointed when we arrived. Entrance off side street that looked a bit dubious. We'd been struggling to book breakfast online but staff member seemed reluctant to help and totally disinterested in any kind of service. Check in not til 3pm so we left our bags and went to explore.

Great location for tubes and buses - into the centre and out to Stratford.

On return there had been a change over of staff and the new lot could not be more helpful. Lovely people.

Eventually in our rooms and very impressed - a double and a family room. The family room was a particularly good size, with a bath not just a shower cubicle. Both rooms basic but clean and comfy. Despite being on front road, the noise from outside was minimal. Probably could have done with extra towels (only one hand and one bath towel for the 2 of us), but didn't get chance to ask housekeeping so I don't know if they would have supplied more. Borrowed hair dryer from reception, no probs.

In the end, the breakfast problem was resolved: we discovered the amazing Nico's, just at the side of the tube station. Definitely recommended.

Check out was 12pm so I guess it explains the late check in. We were able to leave our bags and pop across to the V&A Childhood museum across the road. Somewhere I would never have known about had we not stayed in Bethnal Green.

We booked well in advance and got brilliant rates. I'd be more than happy to stay there again (and a special thanks to the afternoon/evening staff).

Room Tip: Might be worth trying for a family room for the extra space. Maybe ask for a extra towel?

Stayed here as it was convenient for theatre at the West End. 15 minutes on Central line from nearby. Modern, clean, pre-booked so got a good rate for a London stay (£53). Tube strike day after we arrived but No.8 bus useful to us when we left. Museum of Childhood a 5 minute walk from Travel Lodge. Also walked to Brick Lane and Spitalfields market as we'd never stayed this side of London before. Pre-booked breakfast very good, wide range of food. 24 hour bar & a good menu for other meals though we did not eat there other than breakfast. ALL staff very friendly & helpful. Certainly will stay here again.

This is the first time we have stayed in a Travelodge but no sure if we would again as the bedroom was very small. I know the price is really reasonable but I would pay a bit extra to get a more spacious room. The bed was nice and comfortable and the room was clean and fresh towels daily, the bathroom was compact and a small shower with only 1 shower gel between us and it it's not used up they don't give you another.

There is no cupboard to hang your clothes only a small rail with a small ledge above it for tops etc. I don't like that there are no drawers to put underwear or personal items away my husband and I lived out of our suitcase for 4 days which is not ideal. It is the sort of hotel for 2 nights at most plus there is no hairdryer or phone in the room to contact reception if needed. I have stayed at B&Bs with more facilities than this place not even a cup/holder to put your toothbrush and toothpaste in. Perhaps I am too fussy but I wouldn't go back to this hotel or another Travelodge unless they had better facilities.

Great hotel for London, close to the underground, local shops for drinks ect, very clean and well presented, staff were very helpful and friendly, I would defo use this hotel again, previous comments moaning about the noise, to be honest it wasn't that bad, I didn't keep me awake and i am a light sleeper, it wouldn't be London without a bit of noise

I've had the pleasure of staying at this hotel and the Travelodge Aldgate East over the past 6 months on a weekly basis for 5 nights each week. I must commend the excellent service the staff provided at both hotels, cleanliness and friendliness together with the locations and price specially when you book in advance. I will sorely be missing my stay so a big thank you to all the staff.

Newly built Travelodge, about 150 metres from the Tube station at Bethnal Green. Triple glazed windows so road noise is minimal and we didn't hear many other guests either. Only 6 or so Tube stops to central London made it ideal for sightseeing - there is a Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonalds and Nandos withing walking distance as well as a small Sainsburys, a cashpoint and a local market. Staff were very efficient - would definitely stay here again. Family room was a good size
