“Fitzrovia Flat”
Reviewed 23 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

I have booked with the owner (Liz) for many years now. The flats are always wonderful and she is extremely easy and accommodating to work with.
The flat is centerally located and between two Tube stops. Easy axcess to Heathrow as well as St Pancras (Eurostar) and walking distance to everything in Central London.
Liz also provides a binder with all the info you could need if you are unfamiliar with the neighborhood.
The balcony is spacious and a great place for casual meals or just hanging out.

“Great location and lovely terrace”
Reviewed 31 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

The apartment was in a very good location right beside the BT tower. The terrace was great and we had the weather to enjoy it. The only downside was the sofa bed which was pretty uncomfortable. But for two people, I couldn't fault the place - it felt really safe and we loved everything else about it.

“A mixed review for a great location”

Seemed overall like a really great rental until a few days before our arrival when we were warned our 7th floor apartment might not have a working lift. When we arrived around 10 p.m. at night, sure enough, it was not working, despite being told it would be. The only thing the property owner could offer at this point was telling us that we had to hunt up two local university students to carry our two heavy suitcases up the 7 flights. We also had to pay them, although this money was ultimately reimbursed to us. All this should not have been our responsibility to take care of. We were very surprised the owner didn't take charge of sending someone over to help us. Didn't seem to want to be bothered. Luckily the next day, the lift was finally repaired and stayed that way for the duration of our week's stay.

Pros - 1. Great location, within walking distance of the Underground and other important spots. 2. Plenty of hot water 3. Very adequate kitchen setup and appliances. 4. The neighborhood was fairly quiet 5. We found the premises to be clean when we arrived.
Cons - 1. No room darkening shades of any type - we were woken up early by outside light every morning - seemed like a basic omission 2. No dresser-type drawers to put clothing in, causing us to live out of our suitcases for a week. There was an armoire with hangers for some of our clothing, but no real drawer space for anything you couldn't hang up. 3. As two adults, we were allotted 2 bath towels and a single hand towel for an entire week. We asked for a few additional towels which were promised, but with no serious attempts ever made to deliver them. 4. The mattress was an uncomfortable steel spring type that seemed as if it had experienced better days. 5. No real space to store our suitcases, so we had to occupy one of the two sofas with them so we wouldn't trip over them. 6. The balcony was in poor shape and not set up for any real use.

We have stayed in many rental apartments on our vacations over the years, so we are not inexperienced in staying in such places.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I'm a bit surprised by the content so I will reply to each point in turn if I may -

Lift: you arrived at the tail end of major works on the lift, which is now working. You arrived late at night and the only way we can offer a free 24 check in service, which suits most guests, is if we hide the keys securely which usually works fine with us being available at all times by phone and email. As I advised you, I was promised that the lift would have been restored by the time you arrived. Unfortunately it was not. I answered the phone promptly to you and suggested that you go to the hall of residence which is just next door to get help from one of the students. We call on them from time to time so it wasn't a "no plans" scenario. That's what you did and I stayed with you on the phone while you made the arrangements, which you did without a problem. You paid the students double what I had suggested paying (which was still a generous amount). Nonetheless, we reimbursed the full amount that you gave them. I followed up and made sure that all was well with you. I can't quite see how that's us not being bothered! We care very much about the welfare and happiness of all our guests. We are sorry that your arrival wasn't as smooth as we had hoped. The lift not working was out of my hands but we dealt promptly and quickly with the situation for you. The lift was put permanently back in order the next day.

1. "No room darkening shades": yes there are. There are roller blackout blinds at the bedroom windows.

2. "No dresser type drawers": there's a dressing table with a drawer at the foot of the bed; there is a deep large double fitted wardrobe. Each side has a large drawer in it. There are plenty of hangers. You could have unpacked if you'd wanted to. The furniture is exactly as described and photographed in the listing.

3. "Towels": we provide one bath towel per guest and one hand towel. We're always happy to provide more towels on request and we did so when you asked. Given that you received them, I don't quite understand why you'd say we made "no serious attempt" to deliver them. What else could we have done? Perhaps the maid smiled too much!

4. "Mattress": a personal choice. I'm sorry it didn't suit you. If you'd said at the time, we would have resolved this for you.

5. "No space for suitcases": there is a double fitted deep wardrobe with shelves that would take a suitcase. There is also room under the bed.

6. "Balcony": you did arrive after a period of uncharacteristic strong wind so the fence was wind damaged in part so I apologise for that. This has now been fixed. Other than that, the rather lovely terrace is as photographed with a sofa set up, a dining table and chairs and flowers.

In short, our listing description is accurate. Our photos are accurate. You will see from our very many reviews on this site and others that we care very much about providing a good experience for our guests. I'm sorry it didn't work for you. If you'd have let us know during your stay, we would have done all we could to have helped. An inaccurate review afterwards is not the best way of giving us a chance to get it right. I hope we can welcome you back on a future occasion for a better time.

“Just as nice the second time around.”

We stayed at this flat in late June of this year and returned in the third week of November. The flat was as comfortable as ever, and we were again impressed with how the owner, Liz, has included so many touches to make the stay pleasant and easy. Our daughter was with us and used the pull-out bed in the living room, which she said was just fine. As there is a separate bedroom, we both had privacy. The heating was excellent and, as before, we did not hear our neighbors. The only small problem was the weekend evening (Friday and Saturday night) crowds at the pub on the corner -- the smokers all congregate on the street and made more noise than my husband, a light sleeper, preferred. The rest of the week it was quiet.

“Comfortable apartment in ideal location”

I and my husband stayed in this apartment for a very enjoyable 20 days whilst holidaying in London from Australia. The accommodation provided a great base during our stay, it was a good size, had all the amenities that we required and the outside balcony was definitely a bonus. The location is very central being close to the main tourist attractions as well as convenient for bus and underground services.
We would like to thank Elizabeth for making the booking process so effortless and the overall experience so friendly. The only drawback for us was the spring weather which was pretty cool, but we don't really blame Elizabeth for that! We'll certainly look to return on our next visit to London.
