“Excellent, friendly and well-located”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

I stayed here for 2 nights whilst in London for work and it was such a pleasure to be in a friendly, home-from-home style B&B instead of a bland, corporate hotel. Alison is a friendly and welcoming host and her home is comfortable and characterful. My room had all I needed (no TV if that's important to you) and the bed was wonderfully comfortable, and breakfast down in the kitchen was delicious and offered at a time to suit my schedule. Alison pointed me in the direction of a really nice local pub, just at the end of the road, where I ate both evenings I was there and the food was delicious and I felt totally comfortable as a woman alone. The location was great for me as I need to be in Kennington, but buses pass by the end of the road to take you over Waterloo Bridge and into central London if that's where you need to be. Alison is a charming and interesting woman and I thoroughly recommend her B&B - I hope to return when work takes me back down to Kennington.

It is always pleasing to know that my house is a good refuge for people coming to London on business trips. These trips are often quite stressful and exhausting for clients. I like to think that it is quiet and relaxing here for them at the end of the day, whilst at the same time being friendly and comforting. Of course a great breakfast is really important - whether it's boiled eggs and soldiers or something more challenging!

We stayed here for a weekend of theatre and other activities. Pooters is located 1 minute from a bus stop that takes you to most places or a 10 minute walk to Lambeth North station. It is down a quiet street and the area is nice giving you a living in London experience.

The house itself is lovely and Alison's character is evident throughout. She really makes your stay while giving you all the space you want. The room was comfortable with a functional en suite. If you are a TV lover then there is no TV in the room, just the living room but wifi is available.

Breakfast was great and nice to share it with the other guests.

I am so pleased that this weekend worked out so well for this young couple. They were a delight to entertain and had a busy schedule of their own to fulfil.
As many of my guests are, they were surprised at how easy it is to walk or take a bus from here to the main attractions. No wasting time travelling in London when staying here!

Me and my fiancee stayed four nights over easter while exploring London. The location is great 7 min walking to the tube or south bank and right next to a bus station. Alison is a polite and gracious host that goes to any length to make her guests feel at home. She cooks an amazing breakfast and her cute town house is a very welcoming place. The rooms are not huge, but the master bedroom bed is. We had an amazing time and would love to come back.

I love to know that I have succeeded in making my guests feel 'at home'. Pooters B&B offers that chance because it is a private house and not an anonymous large hotel. The benefit of individual attention is much greater when the guests and host can get to know each other during the visit.
I wish this young couple every happiness in their impending marriage.

We were staying at Alison's B&B for the week-end.
This is the right place to stay if you would like to be close to main attractions of London and at the same time to live in a quite, cosy area.
Alison is a very helpful, friendly and nice women. We had a feeling like we stay at our friend's house. And her English breakfast is just superb.
We would recommend Alison's B&B for anyone who would like to feel truly English warm welcome atmosphere.

I am always happy to have people from a wide geographic area. Talking with them provides such interesting insights into life in their country.
It is good to know that for almost everyone the classic "English breakfast" is their first and much appreciated choice.

We took a chance on this B&B and were very happy and surprised at how good it was. Close to lots of attrations in London (houses of Parliament, Big Ben, London Eye etc), and easy access to the tube and bus.
Alison is very friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the room on the bottom floor (garden room). There wasn't much space in the room except for the bed, but it didn't feel cramped or small. It opened to a small garden at the back. Very quiet at night. The bed was perhaps a bit hard, the mattress a bit thin. It was a fold-out bed as this is normally a single room, not double. But overall just fine. The bathroom was modern and clean, couldn't be better.
The breakfast was "top dollar", a choice between continental or english breakfast. It is served with all guests at one large table, not ideal for someone wanting to eat alone.. but jovial and social and a good chance to meet other travellers and get tips on what to see and do.
We would recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit central London, and the room rates are (at the time of writing) a great deal!

I am glad that the quiet comfortable and secluded nature of my home wins over so many guests. These attributes are very highly regarded in Central London.
Most guests have remarked happily on the firm nature of this mattress, and indeed I have many return visitors who elect to stay in this room time after time.
One of the joys in staying in a "proper B&B" is that the guests are the guests of the house, and share the dining table and the living rooms with other guests. It is usually thought to be part of the charm of the arrangement as other reviewers have noted.

We recently spent 4 nights booking both rooms for our family in this wonderful B&B. We couldn't have been more pleased or better looked after. Alison is a gracious and knowledgeable host, and her dog Maddie is a sweet quiet soul who adds unobtrusive warmth and comfort to the home. This is the opportunity to truly live as a Londoner in a quiet neighborhood with access to all points in the city from bus stops at the end of the street and Lambeth North tube station which is roughly a 10 minute walk. A real boon is The Ship restaurant and pub at the end of the street (about 1 minute away) which will receive from me its own spectacular rating on Facebook. A winning combination!

I am so delighted that families find my B&B so congenial. It is good to note that people discover the value of the location, both for its pubs and restaurants and also for its proximity to the high spots to visit. This makes it easy to manage a family holiday without the stress of lengthy daily travel to see the sights.

Alison's home is convenient to Lambeth North Tube Station, as well as within a short walk of Westminster for a trip to the Abbey or to see Big Ben. The room/bath were perfect for an overnight, and breakfast was delightful.
I wish we'd been there for more than an overnight!

I am so glad that an overnight stay is comfortable. Just one night is quite unsettling for a traveller, and I like to make them feel as home as much as possible in the short time they are with me.
