“Billy Elliott - a must-see for all ages”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

The Victoria Palace staff are very happy to help find the best possible seating at the last minute! The theatre's accoustics are good and visibility was great EXCEPT at some of the box levels.

“Take a tissue”

Fabulous show with outstanding acting music and dancing. A very poignant story although many of the foreign visitors a) weren't getting the plot and b) needed subtitles for some of the lovely north east banter! Not sure the sign outside saying 'air conditioned' theatre was appropriate but it was a particularly hot day. Good seats and a very intimate venue. Oh and once again the show is outstanding by the way!!

“Billy Elliot”
Reviewed 23 July 2014 via mobile

Went to see this show on the 21st July 2014. Fantastic show and well worth the money. Drinks were a little expensive at £6 for a small bottle of wine. However the show was fantastic some very funny and some very touching moments. Language could be a bit choice at times so perhaps not for the younger person. Overall would recommend this show for an enjoyable evening.

“Fantastic Show”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

Me & my mum went to see Billy Elliott @ Victoria Palace & it was absolutely brilliant. We would highly recommend to everyone. The cast were brilliant, almost choked up a few times. The bar is very expensive, a small bottle of Rose was £6, abit much when you can buy the same for under £2 @ a supermarket, I had my bag searched on the way in which wasn't good as my bag is about 7" x 5" quite small, no where near big enough to put bottles in. Overall a fantastic show.

“Brilliant show..............shame about the theatre!!!!!”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

A group of us saw Billy Elliot at the Palace Theatre recently. The show was brilliant and I would have normally given such a good production an "Excellent" score.

However, if you are considering booking tickets under NO circumstances should you choose seats in the grand circle unless you are considerably less than 5 feet tall and weight no more than 7 stones! The seats are extremely narrow and there's very little room between the rows. Definitely not suitable for the average person and purgatory for anyone a little larger. It was a very uncomfortable three and a half hours interspersed with stoppages for cast sickness; unavoidable and I do sympathise; and technical breakdown; which was unavoidable had the equipment been tested properly prior to curtain-up.

Drinks in the bar were extortionate and the toilet facilities in the bar were shabby and not very clean which also soured the evening somewhat.

Finally, if you do go and have a similar experience, there's no point complaining to the management as it gets you absolutely nowhere.
