“Much improved on last time”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Having been here previously and had a terrible experience I was invited back to rectify the situation. The contrast between the two evenings could not have been greater. The food was excellent this time as was the service and on tonight's performance would definitely recommend this restaurant. Certainly the food is not cheap but the quality was very high and justified the cost.

“Not bad, could be better”
Reviewed 4 May 2014 via mobile

Have visited Hispania a few times now for business. The City is not long on high-quality restaurants that deviate from the usual Anglo-French formula, so it's a good option. But something is missing. The menu looks great, and I've had some very enjoyable wines. But very few of the flavours of Spain come through. Dishes seem uniformly under seasoned, and seem bland--not an adjective one usually associates with Spanish cuisine! The Secreto Iberico (grilled pork) being one example. The place seems to have all the right elements to be great--nice staff, a nice space, and the right concept--but it's just not there yet. Fingers crossed.

“Seriously good service and great tapas!”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

We had a groupon deal but will be back to pay full price. The tapas are incredible and the service is excellent. Everyone there is super friendly and knowledgeable. Bottles of wine start at 21 gbp and the Tapas/Mains are reasonably priced as well.

The only reason they didn't get a five is because (while the tapas are exquisite) the mains are only very good and don't quite live up to the beauty of the tapas.

“Nice find”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

I ate here last night. I was greeted by a friendly host who sat us at our table by the window.

We had a groupon deal and presented excellent value for money. Bottles of wine were from approx £23. There is a large selection of wines on the menu.

The tapas choice was extensive, however the main course menu wasn't as full. We had the scallops and spinach and garlic prawns from the tapas menu, both were excellent. Followed by sea bass and veal, both were very nice. Desserts were excellent, chocolate cake in a delicious orange sauce and cheesecake. The desserts were presented beautifully in small portions.

The service was excellent, and although we had a number of servers, nothing was duplicated or forgotten.

The atmosphere was lively. There is a bar as well as the dining area, but they don't impede on one another.

“We had a Groupon Deal but will be back to pay full price!”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Where do I start? I bought a glass of red wine at £6.50 a glass (reasonable for the City) and it was lovely, really good quality. Then we got stuck in to the Groupon deal-2 Tapas dishes prawns in garlic and scallops with spinach ..both superb. Main dishes-sea bass and veal really delicious. Dessert was chocolate cake with pistachio and orange-so tasty.
Service was helpful and timely. Very Spanish feel with Spanish staff and great food.
We will be back which is not something I say too often with Groupon deals.
