“Really comfortable”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

Ideal location right next to St Pancras and Kings Cross the room was very comfortable, fresh and clean. The 'Pantry' at the end of the corridor is a marvellous idea, various teas and coffees plus cake, biscuits and fruit on tap. Would definitely stay there again

I stayed here for just one night to catch up with friends in London. As far as location goes, you can't get much better. I was able to hop on the tube to get all over the city with no bother. The hotel is essentially IN Kings Cross station, so you couldn't get a lot closer! The hotel itself is stunning - they've done it beautifully. I was lucky to stay in one of the larger rooms, so no need to clamber over the bed. It was great for me, but for a couple might be a bit of a squeeze (and very little privacy from the bathroom). Staff were fairly friendly, in a 'we're really cool' kind of way. The downsides for me were: lack of tea-making facilities in the room (we don't all want to have to go to the end of the corridor to make a cuppa, and not everyone drinks coffee) and a fairly average and massively overpriced breakfast (something like £4.50 for a latte - ouch). It is lovely though, and for location can't be beaten.

Room Tip: Choose a bigger one

Thank you for recently staying with us at the Great Northern and taking the time to post a review - I'm delighted that you enjoyed your time here and that our location worked so well for you. We are currently in the process of sourcing a kettle for the rooms so hopefully this will be in place when you're next in town. Many thanks, Anthony.

We had a wonderful stay on the last weekend in April. Note that all rooms are the same price at weekends so choose a Cubitt Room as that is the largest of the three types. Staff were wonderful in all areas and the use of the pantry was a great extra. We had a Cubitt Room overlooking the busy street between King's Cross and St Pancras and it was very quiet during the night and we were not disturbed at all by any noise. The room and bathroom were sparklingly clean and the decoration was very chic. We highly recommend the GNH as it is so convenient for both stations.

Room Tip: Choose the largest type - Cubitt - at weekends as all rooms are the same price.

Elizabeth, thank you so much for your wonderful feedback about our hotel , delighted to hear you enjoyed what we also enjoy most about the GNH. We do like to think we are very chic and pretty chuffed that you found our staff wonderful also. Elizabeth just so you are aware our rooms are never the same price, there is always a price difference based upon the room type you decide. Our standard room is called the Couchette while our premium room is called the Cubit. Hope this makes it a little more clear...look very forward to welcoming you back in the future, best wishes and see you soon. Anthony.

This hotel is a recent refurbishment and it has been completed to a very high standard. The room I had was compact but very pleasant, and considering it is right in the centre of the hustle and bustle of the station concourse, is very quiet. There is a nice touch of a pantry at the end of the corridor with hot drinks and freshly made cakes available daily. Also had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and the quality of the food was very good, if a little expensive. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is lovely and its location is brilliant. The problem is that they have squeezed in far too many rooms so the rooms are tiny. When we stayed it was in the biggest of the three styles of rooms and it was still very small. The pictures on the website make the rooms look much larger than they are. The bathroom was so close to the bed and it had a glass twin swing door that had a gap in the middle so it was hardly private. The bed was really comfortable though and and it was quiet for a good nights sleep. The bar downstairs is really nice and the pantry idea at the end of each corridor is quirky and kind of works. Worth a try.

Room Tip: When they are all the same price choose the biggest!

Craig, thank you for posting a review after your recent stay with us and I am glad to hear that there were many aspects of your time at the hotel that you enjoyed. Being a listed building we have had to keep the layout of our rooms within their original position so I'm sorry to hear that you found the space too small. I do hope that we get chance to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future and ask that you contact me directly next time to allow me to deal with your reservation personally. Best regards, Anthony.

I've already spent a night in this hotel last summer. The stay is always a dream. No better place if you travel from/to Saint Pancras or Kings Cross. It's really clean and quiet. The staff is really welcoming and helpful. They helped me with my connexion to internet. The pantry is always delightful.

Room Tip: The single rooms are tiny but there are other rooms. For me the single room is big enough.
