Description: Lagu is a proudly authentic cafe serving homemade Japanese cuisine and a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. We are the perfect stop at the top of Lavender Hill to relax and have a cup of tea and some delicious cake, or dine in for a full and pleasant Japanese experience. In the spirit of authenticity, we have a high preference for hiring those who study or speak Japanese, as this not only encourages cultural interaction for staff and customers, but provides customers who wish to speak the language of our heart the opportunity to do so.

I went for lunch here with my boyfriend on a Sunday afternoon.

We were greeted by a very friendly face and told we could choose where to sit. The decor here is very modern yet comfortable and very calming. You wouldn't know you were dining in a cafe on a main road in the center of London!

I ordered fried chicken with tariyaki dressing and my boyfriend had the tuna sashimi. It was all presented beautifully, tasted absolutely delicious and the portions were just right. We felt you got a lot for your money, especially with the sashimi (about 8 good thick slices of tuna [plus rice and salad] for £10).

We didn't try the desserts but they looked lovely - and will be having some on our next visit!

All in all, Lagu was a great discovery. Delicious food, relaxing atmosphere and lovely service. Highly recommended.

Some friends and I decided to give this restaurant a try after passing it by several times due to its unassuming exterior. We were greeted with hospitality rarely seen in the UK and enjoyed an excellent meal that didn't break the bank. In addition they are bring-your-own which allows further savings/a great start to an evening out. The only thing that disappointed me was that they didn't have any other customers while we were there. This is my first review after reading thousands of trip advisor reviews because I would be hugely upset if this restaurant went the same way as many other new family run start-ups in Battersea. Food and service this great deserves your support!

Wonderful freshly cooked food, run by a charming couple. Now become a family favourite for the weekend. Manages to satisfy daughter on gluten/dairy free diet and another, a very selective eater.Main course (which is enough) about £8. Hope it succeeds as would like it to become a fixture.

I'm not usually moved to review a restaurant, but this recently opened gorgeous cafe deserves to have the word spread! The food is seriously tasty, healthy, interesting, and beautifully presented. The warm welcome, the clean decor and the relaxing music make coming here a real treat on a Friday lunchtime. The sesame green bean starter and tofu salad main are two of my favourite dishes here.

This cafe opened 3 months ago and offers authentic Japanese home cooking at reasonable prices. The menu is simple but the choice is good, there were a range of appetisers / side dishes to choose from and then several styles of main including udon dishes, and salads.

We had a delicious dressed beancurd starter, followed by Tekka Don (tuna sashimi dressed with sesame) and a salmon and avocado Don, both served with rice and mixed grains.

Good tea and coffee menu - can recommend the honey latte. Didn't have dessert but there were home-made cakes a-plenty and an interesting selection of ice-creams including a honey and lemon sorbet, and crepes available in the afternoon.

We received a very warm welcome, the place is pristine and the simple white decor with fresh flowers around is very relaxing. Lovely, friendly proprietress, who clearly loves cooking for people.
