“Delicious food, good service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014

We have been to Aria restaurant for a dinner on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was very quite. We have ordered: spaghetti with gamborini, penne arrabiata, and chicken with mushrooms. We were offered bread with nice olive oil and cherry tomates while waiting for the main courses to be served. The food was delicious. My husband said that the penne arrabiata were one of the best he've ever had in a restaurant. The chicken was tender and the mushrooms sauce was perfect. The service was excellent.

“Hoping their service improves”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

We live in the neighborhood and eat out a lot. The area needs a good, casual Italian place and we were hoping Aria would be it. We gave them 6 months to settle in before trying it. We found the space comfortable, the prices reasonable, and the food very good. The service, however, was a bit of a shambles. It was friendly and started off well, but they forgot to bring the side dish we ordered with our mains. Then it took much too long to clear the empty plates. Then much too long to bring dessert menus. We wanted to order dessert but after more than 20 minutes of waiting for someone to come back we gave up and flagged someone down to bring the check. Oh yea, we tried to get our empty water glasses filled for 20 minutes as well. The perplexing thing is the restaurant was only half full -- really not that busy. I get the impression the waiter and waitress working that night don't have much experience waiting tables, or maybe they're just not very good at it. We will go back and give them another chance because the food is good, but another bad service experience and they will be off the list.

“Poor to Average”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2013

The food was OK...that's the best I can say really.

There was obviously an argument happening between the Restaurant Manager and the Chef as they kept turning the lights up and down....from nightclub, to airport waiting lounge and back again over and over. When we asked what was going on the waitress said that the Chef said it was too dark to cook.

Well, it was too light to have an enjoyable Friday meal, and the manager obviously agreed. Anyway, the Chef won and the Manager lost...as did the customers not wearing sunglasses.

We came on a voucher (25% off starters and mains) and the bill was still £75. I live around the corner, and I know that the area is not cheap....but for some soggy Bruschetta, adequate pasta and a Chocolate Mouse that my girlfriend would have needed a jackhammer to break into it felt way overpriced.

To be honest, the owners should have left it as the Mulberry Street Pizzeria....that one never seemed to me to be empty when I walked past (and occasionally went in), whereas this new one does.

The voucher tempted us in, the food and ambience will not tempt us back

“Standout gnocchi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2013

The standout dish was the gnocchi. Light and soft - mine sink like lead shot....For anti pasta had the meat platter and it didn't disappoint. Veal for me and fish for the boss. Excellent. Shared tiramisu with a glass of desert wine. Bliss. The restauarant is minimalist but with food like this it doesn't need anythign more. Staff were efficient and surprised that we ate four courses. Price was £104 including bottle of red, two glasses sweet wine and a brandy. Without the booze it is an inexpensive noght out.

“Romantic evening.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2013

We were partially recommended in this direction from the Duke of Leinster where we stayed overnight but the choice of this restaurant was ours having walked along Westbourne Grove.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the service was good, food excellent and I suppose quite modest, main course with a starter in addition plus two glasses of wine slightly under £50. in which the service was already included. We both had chicken - different dishes but both excelled.
