Owner description: Whilst the New London is a modern building there has been entertainment on the site since Elizabethan times. The theatre is close to both Covent Garden and Holborn tubes. The first production in the current building was a television recording of Marlene Dietrich’s one-woman show and the first full production was The Unknown Soldier and his Wife in 1973, written by and starring Peter Ustinov. Subsequent productions include Grease with Richard Gere, Bruce Forsyth’s one-man show and Sheila Hancock in Deja Revue.1981 saw the debut of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Cats starring Elaine Paige, Brian Blessed, Wayne Sleep, Paul Nicholas, Sarah Brightman and Bonnie Langford. Direction was by Trevor Nunn with choreography by Gillian Lynne. The show ran for 21 years. Umoja, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Blue Man Group and Gone with the Wind have subsequently played at the theatre.Since April 2009 it has been home to the National Theatre's london production of War Horse

Our first time to the New London Theatre but as other reviewers have said, it is an excellent theatre and the performance of War Horse was breathtaking. We hadn't anticipated quite how outstanding the horses would be, but they were so realistic and effective, absolutely fantastic - definitely worth a visit.

The venue is accessible and not too far from Oxford Street. The performance of Warhorse was superb! The prosthetic horses were so realistic and effective. It was a great experience with some very funny punch lines throughout.

From the 1st moment we arrived at this wonderful theatre, one word describes this theatre superbly (exceptional).

I am partially sighted and the seats I had booked through the access scheme were 11 rows from the front so weren't bad.

Me and my partner decided to visit the theatre early and see if they could upgrade us however. Amazingly they did, despite initially saying they couldn't. We were provided with seats on the 2nd row and pretty central.

There was 4 of us in total and the upgrade didn't cost us anything at all. The view for our seats for the performance of War Horse was incredible.

It almost felt like the horse was on top of us. Incredible and the actors and actresses who controlled the horse deserve huge credit for a wonderful performance.

The show was very good but I think a mention is deserved for the staff. From initially walking in the doors where staff were directing you, I was impressed.

In addition the gentleman whom was selling ice cream at the interval was very informative about the theatre and also said he would look at cooling the area down by our seats.

Overall a great visit, brilliant performance and wonderful service.

War Horse lived up to expectations, the horses were fantastic and so realistic sometimes you forgot they weren't real. The seating round the stage made it feel like you were part of the performance and produced a great atmosphere

This was my first visit to this theatre (to see War Horse - absolutely fantastic) and i was really impressed by both the premises and the staff.

This is a very modern theatre, very spacious, comfortable seats with plenty of legroom and excellent raking in the stalls which, together with a very wide stage, gives every seat a good view.

I was particularly impressed by the staff - without exception they were friendly and helpful.
