I just come back from a 4 night stay in one of the Charleston Apartments. These apartments are clean, comfortable and really big.
Nice living room, with sofa and two chairs and even a dining table with chairs. Small kitchen, but with a fridge, microwave and even a dishwasher. Plenty of plates and cutlery. Big bedroom with comfortable bed, safe in the wardrobe, big enough to fit a laptop. And a nice and warm bathroom with a great bath & shower.
My rooms were on the first floor, corner. I am used to a lot of street noise so slept like a rose but if you are a light sleeper: bring some earplugs.
The staff is really nice, I had some problems with getting the microwave and tv working and a staff member helped me right away. Also the staff at the breakfast every morning was very friendly.
Breakfast is quite simple, but it is fresh, yummy croissants and cappuccino. Fresh fruit, yoghurt. Enough for a good start of the day.
The hotel is very close to the Russell Street station. Across this station is a small mall with a big Waitrose supermarket.
If you are a good walker and the weather is nice it is possible to walk to Oxford Street and Covent Garden.
I will definitely come back and can only highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Light sleeper and on the street side: take earplugs. Apartments are very big and super comfortable.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We are delighted to acknowledge that the room layout and the accessories in the kitchen made you feel comfortable, and that the breakfast served in the Library provided you with the right energy to tackle your days in London.

Equally, we are pleased that our staff managed to have your TV and microwave working promptly, your praising comments will be passed onto them, and will certainly be received with gratitude and enthusiasm.

We hope we will be able to welcome you back to the Morton in the very near future.

Kind regards,

Lovely, well decorated room (no.24) albeit a bit on the small side. Excellent facilities with safe, fridge and all necessary conveniences in room. Bed extremely comfortable. Staff were attentive and continental breakfast was very good quality. Communal areas very clean & bright. Only shortcomings were: single glazed windows meant I couldn't get back to sleep after being woken by traffic/street noise before 6am (maybe some disposable ear plugs could be added to the toiletries for light sleepers?). Hairdryer was a wall mounted model kept in desk drawer, and using this was cumbersome as the wall mounting unit kept falling off the desk. Floor grouting around the wet-room shower area was dirty/discoloured. I had to lift the metal strip on the shower trap/drain to retrieve my wedding ring that I'd dropped and I was shocked at what I found underneath. All in all a very good stay, but falling short of the 5* review I'd expect to give at £185 per night due to the above small niggles. Would happily stay here again, preferably in a different room though.

Room Tip: Stayed in a corner room at the crossroads and the traffic noise woke me up before 6am

Dear Guest,

Thanks for such a great review, we are all delighted that you liked the facilities and comfortable bed in our Bloomsbury bedroom.

It is a pleasure to acknowledge that the continental breakfast granted you enough energy to tackle your day. Our staff were delighted to hear they came across as helpful and attentive.

Regarding the street noise we can provide the earplugs upon request.

We would like to assure you that we have already thoroughly cleaned shower trap/drain in each room and we are looking into attaching the hairdryers to the wall.

Please contact us before your next visit and we will be delighted to assign you a larger room facing the back of the hotel.

We look forward to welcoming you again and making your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Kind regards,

Stayed here for 2 nights on a deal and hotel was one of best we've ever stayed in. The room was quiet despite overlooking side road to Tube station and immaculately clean (as was the entire hotel). Lovely décor in hotel and room, very comfortable bed and excellent shower in beautiful bathroom. Air con was quiet and very effective. Great location near Russell Square tube and great location to walk back from many of the London sights (if you enjoy walking!) Breakfast was very good, really fresh fruit salad and bread etc. Big bonus were the staff as every one we had contact with was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Would recommend without question.

Home away from home! The room was spotlessly clean, cosy and quiet and away from the traffic, according to my request. Big bathroom with window. We loved the shower and amenities. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. I would strongly recommend this beautiful hotel.

The suite was the same price as a hotel room in another hotel. I was wary because I didn't see reviews anywhere but on tripadvisor. But decided to give it a chance. I knew that with 5 nights a suite would certainly be preferred. It was a fantastic experience. I emailed them in advance and told them it was an anniversary trip, and they sent up a bottle of wine! Staff is very nice. Helped us pick a breakfast spot we loved.
There is a safe in the bedroom. Beds were extremely comfortable. The lobby is in the basement but so what. The convenience of being near the Russell tube spot was fantastic. But even better was being on a direct line to Heathrow which meant no changing with luggage. I will recommend this to friends.

Room Tip: Quieter suites are on upper floors they are also spacious and sunny.

Stayed there in November 2013 for about a week. Was very pleased. The location was great (although I hate the Russell Square tube station, it's such a hassle with the elevator). I really liked the rooms aswell, although I was not such a big fan of the bed. Slept in better one's before. Same with the pillows, not a big fan. My biggest gripe was the AC; we had some real trouble with it. It couldn't be turned off. They had to turn it off manually at the reception desk, and only after a couple of times it really worked. For about 2-3 nights we had a towel in the AC as it had gotten really cold in the room. After they turned it off we couldn't turn it on anymore...not that great. Also the doors are quite thin, woke up a couple of times due to noisy neighbours.

Bathroom was great, wardrobe was good aswell, great to leave the luggage there. Would stay there again, but I think the normal rates are a bit pricey...

Overnight stay for an event in London and could have stayed a week. Room was very clean, light & airy and well appointed if a bit on the small side but that was because we also had a small kitchenette. Staff were friendly and attentive thank you for the plasters for my feet. Great value and would definitely stay again.

The Morton Hotel building dates back to the second half of the 19th century, and the renovation works it recently underwent were aimed at maintaining original features combined with installing modern amenities in the original structure. Equally, our staff were very happy to acknowledge they came across as helpful and thoughtful and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.
