“Great find for London!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

We stayed here for three nights and loved it. We had a two bedroom apartment with a central living area that allowed us to gather in the evenings. There was also a little kitchenette, so two nights we stopped at a local grocery store on the way back from our day of sightseeing, and enjoyed cheese and bread and wine and hanging out together. It is a straight shot from Heathrow to the Russell Square underground station on the Picadilly Line, so really easy to get from the airport to the hotel, and then to anywhere in the city. Everyone was really nice and so accommodating! Twice we had electrical problems with outlets in the kitchen, and the staff was there immediately to fix it. We will definitely stay there again!

Given London prices, a reasonable value. Excellent location with tube station, pubs and restaurants, ATM's and food stores all within one or two blocks. Walking distance to the British Museum, British Library, Dickens House and more. Walk to Covent Garden if you don't mind a few extra steps. Russell Square across the street and numerous squares and public gardens in the neighborhood. Not a spacious room, but clean and comfortable with a refrigerator and a generous bathroom. Staff responded to our requests for early check-in and a quiet room. With the Piccadilly Line Tube Station (Russell Square) a half block away, we opted to save a few pounds by taking the underground directly from Heathrow - about 50 minutes with no changes. We will stay here again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Rooms on upper floors or away from the street will be quieter.

Located right on the corner of Russell Square and across from the tube stop, the Morton is a great place to stay whether you're a fan of the literary group that made Bloomsbury famous. The hotel was renovated about a year ago, and beautifully done. Each room is inspired by one of the members of the famed group--ours was Virginia Woolf! The bed was brand new and comfy, and the room a good size for a London hotel. No need to be put off by the lobby being a floor below ground level. It's very nice and the hotel is both safe (outside doors are accessible only by key card) and surprisingly quiet, despite being located on a relatively busy street. The staff is great and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for one night, hotel was lovely and in a great location. Would def stay again and probably will in next few weeks. Only let down was the toiletries, tried the shampoo but it just didn't soap up. Bathroom was spotless though.

A Great Choice for visiting London. We stayed here as a family of 4 for Eight Nights. We had a 2 Bedroom Charleston Apartment which proved setup proved a perfect setup for us. Two complete Bedrooms with each having their own bathroom attached, A Living Area with a Dining table and a separate Kitchen with Fridge, Stove Top, Microwave and Toaster. This was perfect. Additionally the Hotel was Air Conditioned that was great. Additionally you can tell The hotel is newly remodeled, was immaculately Clean and in a great location for exploring London
Location wise, just around the corner from the Russell Square tube station (literally 1-2 minute walk), had a Tesco mini market around the corner for groceries and had numerous restaurant and pub choices in the area. The underground line is the Picadilly line. You can be in Leicester Square/Picadilly Circus or Buckingham palace are within 10 minutes.
The staff at the hotel were very accommodating and the cleaning staff was exceptional. I also felt the hotel was a good value for what received. Overall a very good choice and highly recommended.

Room Tip: Had a room on the higher floor. While there was a bit of street noise, it didn't impact sleep...

You can't go wrong with this hotel. We arrived from Heathrow Airport and took the underground directly to Russel Square; the hotel was perhaps a 1 minute walk from the undergrond. Check-in went fast. We had requested a quiet room when we booked the room 1 week in advance. Our room, however, was pointed towards the street, with a lot of background noise. When we asked for a room towards the backyard, we were told that all rooms were fully booked. With closed windows and air condition, the car noise was not really a big isse. The room itself was very nice, with two solid beds, a good, Scandinavian-style duvet, and a cosy chair. It also had a superb and large television with all the necessary channels. We enjoyed watching World Cup matches from our room. The bathroom was nice as well. The cleaning was generally okay, but you could easily detect dust at the bathroom. Some of the staff were very friendly, and helped us book restaurants and offer guidance on where to eat. We also borred adapters (10 pounds deposit) and umbrellas (20 pounds deposit). We did not try the breakfast, but opted for an afternoon tea instead. The price was very fair at 15 pounds and the quality was fine, although you will have a better experience if you pay more and go to a classic London hotel. A hotel guest sat in the same area and talked very loudly in the phone for probably over 30 minutes before some of the staff finally asked him to lower his voice. I think they should have reacted a lot faster. They did not ask us if we enjoyed our serving either. Taking all things into account, however, I would very much like to visit this hotel again, especially if I could get a silent room as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a silent room

Dear Guest

Thank you very much for sharing your review with fellow travellers.

We read your review with great pleasure and were delighted that you had a nice stay with us and found the location convenient for your travel. We were pleased to note that you liked the room, the beds and bedding, chair and the bathroom. We have taken on board your comments about the dust in the bathroom, we pride ourselves in keeping the hotel spotlessly clean and apologise for any lapse in our normal high standard of dusting. We have recently installed secondary glazing in the windows overlooking Russell Square and Wobrun Place, the windows were already double glazed, and this will hopefully help us to prevent the dust from busy London’s streets as well as reduce the noise.

We were sorry to hear that you were disturbed during your afternoon tea by another guest using their phone, our Library Lounge is usually very peaceful and offers an escape from the bustling city. I have passed your comments on to the team to ensure they react quicker should a similar situation arise in the future.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again and will make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Kind regards

Great location with easy access to tubes and railways. The hotel is new, clean and charming with a library-style interior. The amenities are all of high quality and with up-to-date standards. Our room was located on the fifth floor overlooking Russell Square Park. We experienced some noise from the roads outside. The staff was friendly and helpful at all times. Check-in and check-out was fast. The afternoon-tea was good and fairly priced.
