Cote Brasserie is generally Very Good. We were unfortunately a little disappointed with this one. Standards were lower than the other Cotes we have eaten at. The staff appeared disinterested and disengaged, pity - it's agreat location - might just have been an off day ?

This was our second time eating at Cote
Some of us ate at the York site and we wanted to share the experience with other family. I am not sure why this works so well but it just does. The food is good, some of it really excellent for price, and the service is charming. Here the location is superb and so relaxed. Must haves are the kir royale and the creme caramel. I don't normally go for chains but this is one based on a winning formula.

Staying in a nearby hotel we took a wander and found ourselves getting caught in a torrential downpour so we ran to the first restaurant and we landed in a bit of a gem for breakfast.

The food was fresh and well cooked. Scrambled and poached eggs were perfect. Meat was fantastic and breads were so fresh we ordered more.

There was plenty of staff at hand and service was fast but friendly. The price was pretty standard for the area but the portions were good something not standard in neighbouring restaurants.

Myself, daughter and friend were being tourists in our own city and we ended a perfect day by having a meal here. We got a table outside easily as it was early evening. Sitting by the harbour was wonderful, with a gorgeous breeze after a hot day. I have been to two other Cotes and enjoy the food but what makes this branch special is the staff. They were mainly french and were so charming and clearly took a pride in their jobs. We saw portions of fries being served as though it was caviar. Ok being outside meant slower service but the staff were clearly really busy dashing around inside and outside of the restaurant. They do a special pre-theatre early bird 2 course meal for £11ish. What superb value. My daughter and friend had the calamari and they said it was the best they had ever eaten. I had whitebait and steak and we shared the gorgeous iced berries with hot white chocolate sauce. I have lived in London all of my life but I can't think of a more lovely setting then St Katherine's Dock sitting outside Cote enjoying the end of a summer's day. I think the 12.5% service charge was well earned and we'll be going back.
