This was an excellent experience and is highly recommended. Dave, the tour leader, is knowledgeable, engaging, intelligent and inspiring. My students - aged 17 - got a great deal out of the experience and are still talking about it months later.
Recommended both for school groups and private tours.
We booked this tour as part of our Christmas extravaganza and what a great start it made to the evening. That Dave was such a knowledgeable and engaging guide made it all the more enjoyable. It was fitting that we understood a lot more about the area where our offices are situated, especially as our business is creative communications. Obviously we had an awareness of the great street art and graffiti that 'decorates' just about every inch of space in Shoreditch and Hoxton but soon realised that our eyes had generally been blinkered. The history and background of the artists was compelling and the skill on display was simply awesome. The styles are rich and varied, full of subtle and not so subtle messaging and humour. This is a tour and an experience I would whole heartedly recommend and Dave clearly has the enthusiasm, passion and empathy to make this superb value on every level.
We visited London in Dec. The main scope was of course visiting Christmas markets and enjoying the city lights. We found this special tour and came on a very cold day. Dave had plenty of information to tell , which he presented in an intelligent manner , full of humor. We enjoyed the tour very much , including a huge surprise - we got to watch a street artist working !!!!
A highly recommended tour for anyone! And a new star on my personal top list. If you happen to have a free weekend morning or afternoon in London – just go there. Many thanks to our guide Dave, who was almost ridiculously well-networked and educated on the subject and provided priceless comments on the art meaning and recent news that made everything so fun and full of life.
Three middle aged tourists - saw the tour online and thought it looked interesting. Booking was easy and we were kept well informed prior to the weekend itself. Met "Dave" at the designated spot (did wonder if there are many "Daves" so that everyone feels they have the proper one-and-only guide). Three and a half hours of informative and enjoyable exploration of a fascinating part of London followed. Would definitely recommend. One bit of feedback for "dave" would be to cut the initial history chat a little shorter as we didn't get to see the first piece of street art for about 25 minutes and we feared that it was going to be all talk and no action. However, once you get into it time flies by and you learn how to look around you in a totally new way to see things you often walk by without noticing.
i took the tour with Dave, his knowledge of the local street art scene was remarkable. I only wish I had more time to wander around Shoreditch after the tour. If you do the tour, give yourself time to roam around on your own. Lots of shops, good food and far enough away from the more touristy areas to actually enjoy being part of the scene.
Highly recommended!
