Having booked a mid-week stay at the Crown and Sceptre, we arrived mid-afternoon to check in and drop our bags off. The staff were friendly and helpful and showed us to the room.

The room was presented well, albeit that the paintwork was a little patchy in places. Nevertheless it was clean and welcoming. The bed was comfortable enough and there is a massive flat screen tv provided. The bathroom is also well appointed with a good shower.

The only downside to the room is the noise from the main road outside, obviously this is outside the control of the operators.

Breakfast the next morning was a continental affair, with a choice of espresso-based coffees available - a nice touch when compared to the standard filter usually offered with B and B.

All in all a good value stay in a lovely part of Kensington close Holland Park.

It's not for everyone, but I loved the atmosphere. Brilliant drinks selections (whoever decides what ales they serve has good taste), and friendly staff. The food was somewhat average, but as a place to go for a few drinks with friends you can't do better. Prices are very reasonable for London too.

This hotel is within a 5 min walk to the Kensington Olympia train station (overground), needing only one stop to the Shepherds Bush tube station (which is right next to the new Westfield shopping centre). It is also only a 5 min walk to the nearest High Street bus stop, or a 15 min walk to the Kensington High Street tube station (located on the High Street, in the middle of the shopping area). Our small (double bed) room struggled to accommodate two adults and their suitcases, but we felt this was offset to a large degree by the BEST SHOWER we ever had in all of our accommodation during our three week holiday in the UK (good showers are a rarity). We stayed 6 days and thought this hotel was a good base for our daily excursions all over London.

Room Tip: If you want a peaceful night, ask for a room that doesn't overlook Holland Road (which is a majo...

Stayed for a couple of nights to get away from it all. Good, central location but still feels like you're entrenched in the London life. Good access to nearby Holland Park (probably one of the best city parks in the world). Rooms are clean, nicely decorated. Pub downstairs great for a nightcap, and the other customers were respectful so we weren't kept up at all (which was a bit of a worry!). Service with a smile. Can definitely recommend, and would come again.

The new layout is great, topped off by the always great food. Rught in the heart of Fitzrovia, it's the perfect place to take clients for a quiet sit down, or simply just an evening with friends.

Get the steak sandwich and an Estrella, you won't regret it.

It's a room, a very clean room, a very small room but at a very good price. Nice decor but up a grubby steep staircase.
30 minute walk to the Royal Albert Hall ( which was why we booked it) and next door to Olympia and a short walk to Earls Court.
Great pub downstairs to eat and relax in and a simple but wholesome continental breakfast.
If all you want is a comfortable place to sleep then it's a bargain!

Room Tip: Room 4 appears to be the smallest
