“What a gem!”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

I found this hotel by accident in an area of London that I frequently stay at with work. The hotel is in a very convenient position as it's easily within distance of various tube stations and also a lot of London's more famous attractions such as Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.
The design and decor of the hotel is innovative and it's one of those places where you notice something new every time you look up, down etc.
The staff at check in and check out very friendly, professional, approachable and knowledgeable and also very eager to help.
The rooms were spotless, again with innovative design ideas inside which will feed the curious to see exactly how they've integrated every day items in such a way that it takes a bit of time to work out what they were in the first place.
If there was one thing I would note is that the bed was very comfy and would have led to a great night sleep and impeccable review however I was woken frequently by the sound of the toilet flushing from every room above and around me. I have since spoken about this to colleagues whom have stayed here and been told that you can pay extra for a sound proof room. I can't verify that this is the case as I booked through a third party site though I'm sure if you spoke to the hotel direct they would let you know if this is the case.
All in all I would by ear plugs as this is the only thing that could fault a great place to stay in central London!

Room Tip: Pay extra for a room with windows and also check to make sure it's soundproof

I stayed at the Qbic on 6th May 2014 and must admit I was very impressed with the entire process. The check-in was smooth and welcoming, the room was a "fun room" and was clean, warm and modern (exactly as described and definitely 'quirky'). The hotel was quiet, easy to get to and from and well located for my business trip.
Breakfast was a continental style with plenty of choice and good supply of my favourite decaffinated coffee. The staff were helpful but not overly so, knowledgeable and courteous. Check-out was just as simple - leave the card and go.
I will definitley be back.

There are so many good things to say about this Hotel but against that, there are many negatives or lack of comforts that just spoil the stay.

To concentrate on the positives, we arrived by car to a large (and empty) Car Park secured by an electric gate that prevents car and personal access. The cost for parking was just £12 and this is situated on the edge of the Congestion Zone! The Check in desk was a simple shelf with a PC perched upon it and we were quickly booked in and up to our room on the third floor.

Quirky could be one word for the large room we reserved, with wooden floor boards, a simple square table and plastic chair, a set of step ladders as a dresser (with Mirror inset), the Bed with the TV mounted on the bottom post and a Bathroom Pod that housed the Shower, Toilet and Sink. The Bathroom Pod was quite good with a lovely shower, Soft Close Toilet and modern Sink arrangement although the door was a simple slide arrangement that when closed, still left you exposed with a glass panel. The Bed was large and very comfortable and the TV being state of the art with good controls but with Princess Diana overlooking from the Headboard (not to bad) and Justin Bieber, this was enough to give you nightmares (although it didn't and we had a great nights sleep).

The biggest downside for me, was that there was no Tea and Coffee facilities in the room and this meant that at 6;30 in the morning, I had to get dressed, walk down the corridor and use the Espresso machine to pour Hot Water into Take away cups with the difficult to get on tops, and then balancing the two cups, try to get back into the room using the key card.

We never tried the Breakfast, which was £7:50 for a continental buffet, but looked fresh and inviting.

Checkout was equally quick (throw your key card in a box) and the staff were very obliging, allowing us to leave the car in the car park for the rest of the day.

Great Hotel for a night, but the lack of the little extras would put us off for an extended stay.

What a perfect quirky stay
Who put the Dog Out?
The light mood was set in the rain-shower
A state-of-the-art LED Smart TV at our feet
The soft close toilet lid for all to see...
Put the Dog Out - 'do not disturb' sign
And have the perfect nights sleep - with Justin Bieber looking on.

Booked 5 rooms for a weekend stay with friends. All were available as twins although not guaranteed until check in. Hotel was clean and our room had everything we needed for a weekend visit. Our room on street level not always quiet but no problem for us. Beds so comfortable and great shower. Buffet breakfast available for £7/8 or vending machines with drinks, snacks, sandwiches and soup. Free tea and coffee...good selection of Clipper and Tea Pigs. Few minutes walk to Aldgate East tube and Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Shoreditch just a short walk away. Friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay again.

An excellent location. A short walk from Brick Lane and Spittalfield. Reasonably priced for London and the rooms did have an individual feel However... my usual complaint.. there was nowhere to sit with a mirror, plug socket and good lighting to do hair and make up. You either waited for the bathroom mirror to clear of steam, sat cross legged on the floor infront of the door or bent over the trendy step ladder/mirror contraption. Continental breakfast was available for £7.95 and there was a lovely area for eating breakfast or just drinking the complimentary coffee and tea. I would definitely stay here again.

I was very lucky to win a £1 room at qbic and was extremely happy! (Go on their website for more info on the comp). Hotel is in a great location, just near Aldgate East tube and Brick Lane isn't far either. The room was simple but loved the decor and the concept. The best bit was the bed... it was huge! And supper comfy! We will be back for sure!

Not what I would normally have picked for a business trip to London but I am glad that I did.
Very stylish and what we Brits would say was very European in flavour. Stylish, compact rooms. Everything I needed but not a great deal of space. Minimalist? Functional?

Both of these I suppose. Reasonably priced, nice room and good breakfast. Hit drinks available in common areas not in the rooms. Breakfast was of the continental variety only but it didnt matter. I'd stay again; arguably more of a city break hotel than a business visitors one.
