We dropped into The Rake before a spot of Sunday Lunch at nearby Roast in Borough Market. Main driver was the potential choice of beers, and the chance to tick off sampling of some new ones.
The Rake is a bit spit n sawdust in nature, with no music, no loud conversations, no plasticy gimmics etc. And it's great for that! (O.k., I have more grey hair now than black, so a loud, plastic pub isn't really my style these days). You go to The Rake to try the wide selection of different beers that are available, which is what the place is all about. Beers from Europe, the US, including pukka ales, lagers, lambic beers from Belgium etc.(try them!). The guys serving were all friendly and knowledgeable about the beers on offer.
If you are around and about Borough Market, you should give The Rake a try if your idea of a pub is somewhere that focuses on offering a great selection of beers - you won't be disappointed.
