“Surprisingly good, especially for the price”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

I did not have high expectations of this place, having found myself unable to book a hotel nearer the centre of London for any kind of reasonable price. (Over £300 for the Jurys Inn, Islington? Come off it!) It did not look all that great from the outside when I arrived either. However, once you are through the door and the funny little booth that passes for reception you find a well decorated, very clean and well appointed little hotel / guest house. My room was spacious (I did not really need five beds (a double, a single and two bunk beds) as it was just me, but not to worry!) and had a good sized flat screen telly, a nicely appointed bathroom with a reasonably forceful shower. The bed was comfortable too and inside the hotel was quiet, although the road outside was a busy one and the windows did not have the sort of glazing that kept much of the traffic noise out. Black cabs are hard to come by in that part of London and so I was at the mercy of mini-cabs in the morning (an 'experience' as ever!), but that is not really the hotel's fault. I paid £80 and for that the place is really good.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet one not facing the road, but not sure if they exist.

I stayed here with a friend for the Hillsong Church Ladies Colour Conference and had a great stay. The staff were very welcoming, the rooms were clean and very comfortable and breakfast was good. It was very accessible with a bus stop located right outside the hotel with links to North Acton Tube Station which is on the central line.

Me and my partner stayed here for one night in June. We would stay here again based on the quality and value for money against other London priced hotels. If you are used to a 5-star hotel then you need to go elsewhere but expect to pay ALOT MORE and don't moan because you get what you pay for.

On arrival, we were checked in promptly and the staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived half an hour before check-in and were given the keys to our room immediately. We asked for and were given simple directions to the bus stop (which is right outside the hotel) because we were off to Wembley Stadium that evening. We needed to get 2 buses to the stadium (or there was another option of one bus and the tube) so it was not as close as we expected but still fine. We didn't mind travelling and knew we would have to to some extent when we booked because we didn't want to pay hotel prices right next to Wembley Stadium or in central London. Again, if you want to be walking distance to your visitor attraction expect to pay the price for it because all hotels are much more if you do this! We paid £90 (incl. continental breakfast) for our double room here but if we wanted to stay walking distance to the stadium or in central London then a hotel of the same quality/value was £150-200!!! We were just not prepared to pay this for one night.

We had a double room on the basement level and it was cool at night to sleep in; the temperature was 22 degrees at the time so this pleased us. We had the windows open and didn't experience any noise disturbances. The bed was comfortable and we could have easily stayed for more than one night.
The room had a en-suite with shower and toilet which was almost brand new. The shower was really nice with lots of warm water available! The room seemed to be recently refurbished with an ample sized wardrobe, a little table and chairs. Tea and coffee facilities were also provided. Overall, the room was compact with the bed taking up most of the room but the space was used well, was clean and was fine for a couple as long as you don't spend your whole day in your room. But i'm assuming if you are visiting London for work or recreation you are not going to do this anyway!

The breakfast was described as continental on booking and was perfectly acceptable as continental when we went for breakfast in the morning. There was a selection of cereals, yoghurts, juices, tea, filter coffee, toast with selection of jams, croissants. They had eggs and tomatoes to go on toast which guests had to help themselves to (buffet style). We were pleased with the breakfast and the service; the breakfast room was clean and the staff cleared tables promptly when other guests had left the room/finished their breakfast.

We checked out at 11am on the Sunday with no problems at all. Another bonus to this hotel is that it has free parking (limited spaces - about 6) and if you check in on time you are almost guaranteed a space because when we arrived at 13:30 all the spaces were free. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for 5 nights during my recent visit to London and found it ok, it was pretty close (by train) to Westfield (at Shepherd Bush), as i was in town to shop and not do touristy things.

the description i was given at the reception for moving around in town by bus, was pretty confusing, but i was able to get better information elsewhere

Walk down to Acton main line (about 5 mins walk from the hotel), take a train to Eailing Broadway (this train unfortunately runs every 30 mins), then from Eailing brodway, you can take the tube to anywhere you are going.

The days we dint go out, nobody came to clean our rooms, London was also hot and i wished the hotel had airconditioning, however they provided a fan.

The breakfast i must confess was a big disappointment, bread and eggs everyday, i expected a full English breakfast or at least some sausages or bacon. the eggs were also tastless

Otherwise, the staff were quite helpful and the rooms were adequate.

Taxi to heathrow from the hotel cost 25quid which i found great!

I wont mid staying here again on my next visit to London

Run more like a motel 6 then a B&B. Small room, my husband could reach both sides of the room at the same time. Very small bathroom. The breakfast was a cold continental breakfast, with one dish of warm eggs. I think you just get what you pay for. The room was on the cheaper end for London. It is also not easy to access the main London Attractions from this location, it is at least 30 min on 2-3 trains to get into the action.

Everything is all right about the hotel, except the location. It took me about 40 minutes to get to the centre (by bus, then by tube). Bus stop is right beside the hotel, but bus goes rather rarely in the evening and at night. But if you have enough time and are ready to wake up early in the morning that must not be a problem.

Breakfast is fine, the staff is friendly.

As a freelancer, travelling for my work I often need reasonably priced overnight accommodation. A decent, clean, en suite room. The London Guest House was perfect for that. On the 'any special requests' section of the internet booking form I asked for a quiet room if possible and even one of the on site parking spaces mentioned. I got both. The friendly receptionist even moved his car for me, though there was plenty of parking on the street I prefer to have off-street when possible.
I paid £54 for a single room -- which considering the Chelsea Flower Show seemed to monopolize economy lodgings for miles around wasn't too bad. I didn't have time for breakfast, so cannot comment on that. I am often working in West London so would use The London Guest House again.

Room Tip: A room not facing the main road though the double glazing is very effective. There is no lift.
