On a bitterly cold day, it was lovely sitting in the cafe, sipping a coffee and then a beer before watching East of Eden, and The Giant, two of James Dean's films. The BFI is a great place to while away a few hours, and usually have an eclectic selection of films showing. Very cool place.

Popped in for a quick bite of lunch. I was going to have the pulled pork burger until I saw the fish and chips. Wow the pollock was lovely and the batter was really light. However the tables were so close together and it was really noisy it was very hard to have a conversation at the table. Saying that I was too interested in the fish. Slight disappointment the mushy peas were cold.

We spent Saturday/Sunday here with three colleagues from the Cheltenham Film Society attending the ICO Spring Screening Days, looking for candidates for next season's programme.
We watched 4 films each day, using all three of the cinemas - all are very comfortable (just as well given the time we spent sitting down!), and the staff are all helpful and very efficient. The packed lunches were tasty and good value, and on day 2 we discovered that they do make good flat whites in the restaurant/cafe.
What a great place to go if you are a film-lover.

I've been at the BFI several times and it's still my favourite place to watch a movie. Why? Because everybody in the room is there to actually watch the movie! No teenagers making noise, no people looking at their mobiles, no chatting, no noisy food being eaten... it's the perfect environment to just sit down on the comfy seats, relax and actually get into the story being told.

The rooms are pretty small, which means you have to book your tickets in advance; if the film is really popular, sometimes you have to book weeks in advance.

There's also a really nice bar in the lobby, if you want a nice cocktail before or after your movie.

Great location, nice decor, unique movie selection and the toilets were right next to our screen which was a must as I have been unwell recently. Looking forward to going back.
