“Great Location”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

The hotel was in a fantastic location, if you need rail links such as Kings Cross and St Pancras. The room was tiny but new and spotlessly clean, breakfast was very basic but adequate. The bathroom was tiny but had everything you could need.

Small hotel in five minutes of walking from stations King's Cross, S.Pankras and subway.
Small rooms with all conveniences. The conditioner isn't present, but there is a fan. The refrigerator isn't present. Ideal purity in the room and in a bathroom. All equipment works.

Room Tip: If the room leaves to the square - will be noisy. In rooms on a backyard is much more silent.

This was a very modern hotel but I found the rooms, beds and bathrooms very compact. Wouldn't recommend staying any more than 2 nights or if you are looking for a luxurious hotel as it wouldn't be relaxing enough. Quite noisy with other people going in and out of their rooms but the rooms all have laminate flooring so that adds to the noise. It is in a very central location right next to kings cross station which was excellent for transport links.

We only stayed at Albion House because we were offered a free room by management to make up for a mistake in our booking they made during a previous stay at one of the other hotels in the same chain in Argyle Square (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186338-d599913-r156899071-Excelsior_Hotel_London-London_England.html). We were grateful for the offer, as we had an early Eurostar to catch so it was convenient. The room they put us in can only be described as claustrophobic. If two of us were staying for any longer than one night we would have struggled to stay organised. It was impossible to wash your face in the sink because it was so tiny you couldn't get your face in there! There was virtually no room to lay out our one suitcase, and there were no extra wall sockets to charge our phones, so we had to unplug the TV and alarm. The room was on the bottom floor facing a courtyard, which we thought would have made it quite, but oh no, we heard plenty of noise. The room was clean, safe and newly refurbished though. Had we paid for the room or stayed longer than one night we would have been disappointed.

Pluses:
o location -- very close to Kings Cross/St Pancras, on a pleasant, quiet square
o price -- very reasonable
o clean and neat
o room very quiet (no 5, single)
Minuses:
o safe won't lock? toilet won't flush? You have to exit the building and cross the park to reception in another hotel. Good job it was a sunny day. But these issues were dealt with promptly.
o no hand towel, though bath towel was a good size
o room is extremely compact, and negotiating the door, then the fire door immediately in front of it, may require ingenuity with luggage.

Dear Sir

Many thanks for your review and giving us much valuable feedback on your stay.

We are in a private square off the Euston Road , and the Albion House is at the very back of this road. In the main Argyle Square is very quiet and tranquil as there are just hotels here and a few private houses as well as a garden which is locked after 7 pm. Most of our customers comment that the hotel is " surpisingly quiet " given our central London location. The noises you heard from the street were not common at all; and I think it was a one off those nights . We have 24 hr staff on site ; so If you find any external noise please report it and if we can do something about it we will.

We are resposible for what happens within our building ; but it is difficult to control what goes on outside it . Car alarms and youngsters passing through the neighbourhood on a Saturday night are difficult to monitor and control but you have to remember we are a City Centre Hotel and not in the countryside.

The review directly below this ; is from your partner so you have reviwed the same stay twice.

Apologies for any inconveneince caused

Many thanks

Patrick
