Hotel ideally situated right beside Greenwich railway station so it is easy to get into central London either on the Docklands Light Railway or by the main railway line into London Bridge. Staff really efficient and friendly. Room well equipped with comfortable bed and great shower. Very good breakfast with everything you could want and the restaurant food in the evening excellent - would recommend the burger.
Just perfect for a weekend in London.

This is an extremely well located hotel, next to Greenwich railway station and within easy walking distance of Greenwich town centre. The hotel shares a semicircular drive with the station which allows guests to set down luggage easily. We came with our car and used the basement garage - you access this by a driveway from the main road, but at the opposite side of the hotel to the main doors. The garage is on a first come first served basis and costs £13 overnight until noon the following day. Our four wheel drive went in fine under the 2.1 metre head room, and the parking bays are of a reasonable size, though you have to be careful manoeuvring as it is not a huge car park. One of the two lifts goes down to the garage and we unloaded there, using the trolleys provided. It is a very secure garage with a full height electric gate and we left the car there while we went to the wonderful Turner exhibition at the nearby Maritime Museum. Extra hours beyond the noon cut-off are charged at £2.50 an hour - good value considering the difficulty to find parking places in Greenwich.
Check in was exemplary and we were upgraded to an "executive" room on the 5th Floor. The 5th Floor was recently refurbished to add executive rooms to the existing ones on the 6th (top) Floor. The room was spotless, with a bath and separate shower, with a completely separate toilet. The comfy sofa concealed an additional bed. The air conditioned room had a full set of amenities, with a kettle and coffee machine, free broadband (for low bandwidth use such as e mails - there is a paid option for streaming but the basic free service was excellent) and a good work desk which swivels out if you need additional space. The wardrobe is small but perfectly adequate, there is an iron and ironing board and a safe, and an iPod dock. The shower was very good. Our requests for an additional blanket and pillow were quickly addressed. In fact the staff throughout were superbly helpful - this is a friendly hotel where they really try to make your stay stress-free.
The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. We were at the front of the hotel overlooking the entrance - some of the rooms at the rear of the hotel look out over the railway. That said we could hear nothing of the very busy main road, nor from any of the neighbouring rooms.
Breakfast was good, and again the staff helpful and friendly - it is a self service buffet with a nice selection of both hot and cold items and fresh baguettes. Everything we had was well cooked and very enjoyable.
This hotel is a gem, with a dedicated, friendly team, good housekeeping and nice breakfasts.

Room Tip: The "executive" rooms are well worth considering.

We stayed here when going to the O2 for a concert. It is both well located for the O2 and right next to the DLR for getting to Canary Wharf and on into Central London. The rooms are a decent sized and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the bar was pleasant and still serving past 2am on a week night.

Just came back from an overnight stay at the Novotel.

It is right next door to the DLR train station, so it was an easy commute for us. We bought a train ticket that allowed us to travel within zones 1 and 2, and return the next day (£31.80 each if you're interested). From Waterloo you jump on the Jubilee Line to Canary Wharf, then hop on the DLR, and bingo, you're there! There is limited parking, according to the website, but you can't pre book that. That is £13 for 24 hours. It just seems a shame that you can't pre book, but other people have commented that they were able to park easily off site.

Check in took next to no time.

We were on the fourth floor facing directly on to the DLR. We had a superior room, which consisted of a separate toilet, kingsize bed, bath and shower cubicle and a sofa. The bathroom had bi fold doors, so with the doors back you could sit in the tub and watch TV, which i did! It was very clean and comfortable, although it is slightly disconcerting initially that there's no basin in the loo to wash your hands, but it's not a massive trek to the sink! The towels and linen were beautifully laundered, but there was only one pillow on the bed, and one spare on top of the wardrobe. I am sure that if we'd contacted reception they'd have been more than happy to supply more, but we didn't ask.

Initially, as previous reviewers have said, the mattress feels firm, but we slept well.

There was an iron and ironing board, but i didn't feel inclined to use those, but the hairdryer seemed pretty powerful (There's nothing worse than a hairdryer with no umph when you have long thick hair!).

As stated on previous reviews, i was aware that there were only 2 teabags, so i packed my own, but that's standard practice for me! And, for some reason, there were only 3 pots of milk, but again i'd expected that. My only minor moan was that i think there should be at least one complimentary bottle of water for those that don't drink hot drinks.

The wardrobe was small, but it wasn't as though we were moving in, and there was a deep drawer in the dressing table/desk you could use.

I discovered i didn't pack a toothbrush, so i went down to reception, and asked for the nearest convenience store, and the receptionist pointed me in the direction of the Sainsburys local, which was approximately 3 minutes walk out of the hotel to the left, so i picked up a bottled water there and a pint of milk. There's also a Co op, so if you forgot anything, it's not the end of the world and it won't cost an arm and a leg to pick something up.

When we enquired at reception about the best way of getting to the 02, the receptionist gave us a voucher to eat at the hotel and save 15%, which we took advantage of.

Initially the kitchen wasn't doing hot food because the oven wasn't working, but reception phoned up to the room when it was back up and running. The food was delicious, and reasonably priced for a hotel. I had the beef in ale for £15 and a dessert was around £5, without the discount! The service was also quick.

At reception we booked a taxi to the 02, which cost £10- although i'm not sure what we got in was a licensed cab, but he seemed to know we were off to the 02! Coming back we also opted for a cab, and that was a black cab, which cost £13.60. Another couple we met went on the DLR and they found that to be straight forward and stress free.

Breakfast was £15, but it was a buffet style, so you could fill your boots. There was a wide selection, from cereals, to traditional English cooked breakfast to continental, fresh fruits, fruit juices and waffles, not to mention bread you can toast, so i'm sure everyone could find something to suit, and the menu does state to speak to the kitchen if you have allergies etc.

The main reason that we didn't score the hotel as excellent, was purely because of the noise from the DLR, however, i packed ear plugs, and if you needed to pick some up, there was a chemist before the Sainsburys! Overall, we didn't really notice the trains, but there are some that would.

The staff were polite and friendly, so all in all, if we were to go to the 02 again, we'd definitely stop there! It's also handy for exploring other attractions locally.

All in all, with a Superior room, 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts, we had change (admittedly not much) from £200 which i think was pretty good for London (certainly seems pretty good when you watch 'Four in a Bed' like i do!).

Room Tip: Ask for one at the front not facing the DLR if possible.

The room, food and standard of service was everything I have come to expect from Novotel.

I had a very comfortable four night stay and slept very well. I groaned when I realised just how close the hotel was to Greenwich station, but even with a room overlooking the platform the noise was not an issue.

The staff very attentive, even when I kept leaving my key behind in the room!

The gym was small and not that well equipped but on the plus side this meant that it wasn't at all cluttered and I had it to myself most evenings after work.

In terms of locations it is ideal for visiting the sights of Greenwich, about fifteen minutes walk from the university and maritime museum, say ten minutes from the bars and restaurants; and a short train ride into central London.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel, the hotel backs onto a railway line. I didn't think th...

This hotel does not miss an opportunity to wring another penny out of you in any way it can, even down to the cheapest toilet roll money can buy! Only two tea bags per room, a £2.75 charge for bottled water in the fridge was simply outrageous, and the price of breakfast a scandal.
